magicglock wrote:I have been really shocked by the number of people willing to post their call signs on this forum! I have been licensed since 1993 No-Code Tech and renewed my license in 2003. While telling everyone that you are licensed and giving out your call sign is not normally problematic, I have been very reluctant to post my call sign on a public gun forum. Any person with limited knowledge of Ham Radio can find any number of call sign databases and have a little more information than I would like to post. Why not just post a sign in your front yard that says hey bad guys here is my real name, my address, and a list of firearms I own? With a little more digging on the forum they might just learn a little too much about your defense strategy or other personal details of benefit to a bad guy. :headscratch

Am I a little paranoid or did the thought just not occur to anyone?

I'm pretty publicly known any way. No use in hiding.. ;-)

I've got a buddy in the Clear Lake area that's in need of some advice regarding a VHF marine radio antenna. Might there be one of y'all nearby that he can contact ?

Don't do much with my ticket any more in these days of cell phones but still keep my 2 meter charged up and handy for Hurricane season.

I think they have gotten easier since I got mine, back then a code test was in order. I was using code to identify aviation navigation aids until my company received our new aircraft, now the navaids are automatically decoded. So now what little I remember is going to fade.
