As someone else suggested, ask AC for live traps. Just tell them you have a problem with feral dogs.
The BB gun suggestion is a good one, but a pellet gun or a slingshot with steel balls can break skin and more. If you want to use a slingshot, stick to pebbles or very small metal projectiles - 1/4" hex nuts perhaps. You can quickly become very accurate with a $10 slingshot. Most sporting goods stores have them.

Some years back, a friend who lived in a rural division kept chickens for pest control. They became pets to the family in short time. A new resident (FtW PD officer) moved in, with a couple of big pedigreed dogs that he let roam free. My friend heard a ruckus in the back yard and stepped out to find both dogs with a dead chicken in it's mouth. He just happened to have a 30-30 in hand and dispatched both dogs (with one shot!). Loaded the dogs in his pickup, drove them to the neighbor, dumped the dogs and demanded payment for his chickens. He got paid and went home.

So yeah, buy a rabbit or two.
