Re: TLynn's 50th Birthday Present...a new 5.0!!!!
I've been die hard Ford since getting my first F150, then a 2nd F150, and after hanging out with a mustang club, my wife now has an 03 GT with mild bolt-ons. I'm needing a new truck soon and the 2010 F150s are sharp... then again, I can just keep the truck running just good enough to take the boat to the lake and get a 5.0 shelby

Wait, hold the presses. Road & Track says the Camaro SS is quicker than the Mustang GT. In fact it has the same 1/4 mile time as the Shelby GT 500.

No kidding? Can you give me the link where you found that? I went to the Road and Track website and all I could find was this video:danpaw wrote:Wait, hold the presses. Road & Track says the Camaro SS is quicker than the Mustang GT. In fact it has the same 1/4 mile time as the Shelby GT 500.

August 2010 Road & Track when I was at Discount Tire today

I saw that too. The Mustang handles better and stops shorter but the Camaro out ran it in every category except they didn't show top end.

Well I'm going to have to head out and pick up the issue then. When you go the Road and Track website, and search for the August 2010 issue, it just brings up the same video that I linked to in the previous post. Kinda frustrating....the magazine that is, not the car. I still prefer the Mustang over the Camaro.

The 5.0 is quick. I am getting more used to it every day. Did I say it is quick? TLynn's post and the video comparing the GT 5.0, SS and the SRT8 pretty much put me over the edge.TLynnHughes wrote:glbedd53 wrote:I saw that too. If you believe Road & Track the SS is quicker. I would have to go for the Camaro just for looks. The Mustang would be 3rd in that category.

I'm not a Mopar guy and I know it's not as fast as the Camaro but that Challenger is pretty awesome lookin.

It is quick!!! And it's effortlessly quick!! I have never driven anything like it before. Ford got it right this time, I think. Glad you're enjoying yours, Purplehood.Purplehood wrote:The 5.0 is quick. I am getting more used to it every day. Did I say it is quick? Indeed the Camaro and the Challenger are nice looking cars. But I'm sticking with what I got.

Don't blame you. Just my opinion anyway. I'm a Chevy person, you're a Ford person. The world is full of both. We like to debate it but I believe if one was really much better than the other it would be more obvious, and JD Power would let us know.
