Quoting the Surah's of the Koran can be very misleading. The Koran is not a result of heavy and constant editing. It is more like a logbook. It is ideas thrown out in a chronological order, that can be superseded by another surah at a later date.
The vast majority of Muslim's will look at the very Surah's highlighted in previous posts on this thread and realize that they are superseded by more moderate/palatable ones to our Western-eyes.
I am sure that radical Muslim's can take a look at the Old Testament and pick and choose their own passages that support their views of Christianity.
It appears to me that any radical of any religious belief can point to any Holy Book to support their particular brand of radicalism. In my own view that is just a sign of a simple-mind, as they miss the grander scheme of things that their religion is really all about.

Yes, but only a particular group is responsible for the majority of conflict in the world today. (Indonesia, Somali, Bosnia, Pakistan/India, ALL of the middle east.) It appears only a particular group acts on these (and many other passages).

You've got various groups one one side in all of these conflicts, but in each of these various cases, one particular group is always a common factor on the other side.

Yikes. Tell that to all the moderates living in those countries, the Hindu's living in the Indian sub-continent, the Christian sects living throughout all of those regions. Mein Gott I hate generalizations.

As a Muslim, I do not want to get in long debate about this case or terrorism in general.
In short, I would raise an simple an clear objection with this statement:
"OK, we know the terrorists are Muslim. But there are millions of Muslims in the world, so knowing who to arrest or kill is not that simple."

99.95% of all Muslims worldwide do not support targeting innocent civilians. Why?, because it is "Islamically Forbidden"

Good post, Keith. Your analogy about weeds is correct and I had already come to that same conclusion before coming to that part of your post. Nobody can deny the effectiveness of these infiltrating stings, and I'm glad these bad guys are being stopped before they can commit mass murder.

A survey earlier this month found a very different story than "99.5%".
