The picture situation will be interesting. I'm sure I will get some good ones, but not as many as I would like. My wife, so far, refuses to take any pictures with her phone while we're moving.

I won't get it done for this trip and I'm not sure about it overall yet, but I'm considering a dual camera system that can record up to 20 hours of 1080p video front and back on a 256GB card. I'm thinking about getting this for everyday use and then for trips set them to take a picture every few seconds to capture the scenery. That can then be played back as a time lapse video. However, I'm still mulling this over because I'm not sure if I want the extra tech to deal with. It might seem a little ironic since the bike I'm riding already has built-in satellite radio, gps navigation, and ABS. On a motorcycle! I know! Anyhow, if I do the camera system it won't be until after this trip and probably over this winter when we aren't taking any trips at least until next spring. If I do get it the winter months should give me enough time to get it installed and work out any bugs I'm sure will arise. Then, future trips to the northeast and Appalachia should result in some amazing pictures.

If you ride the River Road, hydrate first and do it when it's cool. IMHO it is the most technical motorcycle road in TX with lots of blind off camber turns and some of the greatest scenery that's jaw dropping. Eat at El Patio in Presidio.

I've thought about it. Our destination in AZ would get us over the 1k mile requirement. I've even mentioned it to my wife and she didn't smack for even suggesting it. However, I'm not sure she completely understood the requirements. After our 530 mile ride last Saturday we woke up Sunday morning and she asked if I wanted to do it backwards and do an IronButt. When I explained that the 24 hour requirement was not just riding time, but elapsed clock time, then she kinda frowned a little. So, maybe someday, but probably not too soon.

Side note, I wonder how old the oldest certified IronButt rider was when they did it? I don't see it happening within the next two years for us. Maybe for me, but even that chance isn't too great.

Looks great. That will have to be another trip.

More technical than the Twisted Sisters in the Hill Country? I read somewhere that they were considered expert level or something like that. I thought they were pretty easy. Nice ride, but easy.

What makes the River Road technical is the the variety of surprises it throws your way. The blind off camber turns on some of the hill crests are not tight, but the road is narrow and with no paved shoulders in the technical sections you need to be on your game if you are "cookin".

The first part from Study Butte to Lajitas is just hilly with a lot of washes as you descend down to the Rio Grande, as you pass Lajitas the fun begins.

I prefer the Study Butte to Presidio direction. The landscapes and road combine together into an immensely intense and fun ride. I ride a lot in Arkansas so I prefer the twisties and the River Road is not as technical as Mt Judea/AR 123 or Push Mountain Road/AR 341, but it makes up for it with the surprising combination of changes in both the road and scenery.

Yeah, I remember riding through there as well with my family last year. We were about to cancel the trip due to busted out tires, but my contact from 4WheelOnline made sure that my order arrived on time. Nonetheless, we enjoyed every second of the trip. We might give it another go once the virus dies out.
