How can simple trespass be ignored "unless physical intrusion of a property" occurs when that is the definition? Either the DA will prosecute and this was for show or all will be ignored? I'm now confused.Grumpy1993 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 15, 2019 4:10 pmWhat other kind of trespassing is there - mental trespassing?jason812 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 15, 2019 4:00 pmI think the "physical intrusion into property" would apply to 30.06 signs. Sorry to poopoo on that idea.flechero wrote: ↑Mon Apr 15, 2019 2:30 pmThat's exactly what it thought when I read the text above!Soccerdad1995 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 15, 2019 1:25 pm So 30.06 and 30.07 signs are now null and void in Dallas? At least there is a silver lining here.

Petty is apparently anything of value (except cash) worth less than $750.
Article spends the beginning talking about drugs, but later gets to the point.
Theft, Shop lifting, porch pirates, bike theft, etc. no longer will be prosecuted by the DA in Dallas.
Dallas has now passed Houston on the way to the bottom.

The Dallas DA may have done this because it worked out so well in San Francisco, where your chances of being a victim of property crime are now 1 in 16.

An episode of Blue Bloods dealt with the same issue. The Dallas DA should have watched it and learned a thing or two.

The above quote has always stuck with me, & I believe it applies here as well.

Re: TX: New plan for justice in Dallas- No prosecution for petty crimes.
So he's going to prosecute a misdemeanor that carries a maximum $200 fine, and can be very difficult to prove (issues of exact wording, size requirements, contrasting colors, conspicuous posting, whether the accused is a VESP, etc., etc., etc), but he will not prosecute a straightforward case where someone walked past a clearly posted "no trespassing" sign?
Unfortunately, that sounds about right for liberal DA's these days.

The DA went on to say further that if the person stole the items for resale, he would be more inclined to prosecute.
But if the thief just kept the stolen items for him/herself, that could be ignored.
What kind of hinky logic is that?
The new policy, it seems, would allow lazy people to steal anything up to $749, as long as it was for personal use, and not resale. Sheesh.

I think the DA candidate who was defeated was a very experienced and capable woman with great credentials and instincts as a prosecutor. Can't have that in Dallas, you know.

I don’t have a flat screen yet or maybe a new 1911. I’m headed for Dallas.

Just remember to steal them with an MSRP less than $750. If you don't plan to re-sell them, the DA has given you his blessing to keep them. :-)

Re: TX: New plan for justice in Dallas- No prosecution for petty crimes.
we deal with this all the time in wood county.. sheriff is very hesitant to do anything that resembles law enforcement in our POA community.Bitter Clinger wrote: ↑Mon Apr 15, 2019 11:00 am Yep. My understanding is that they will also no longer prosecute criminal trespassing! Here is a pic of the most recent vagrant that I asked to leave our HOA common area property. If he had refused, what would be our recourse now?
I guess we should simply provide free housing?
"Meet our newest resident. Loves the outdoors, camping, biking and epic beards".
deputies will respond for domestic violence , but theft , drugs or the like..NO BUENO. to credit them..we did get them out one night around midnight when my neighbor across the street was shooting his pistol through the fence towards our house.
trespassers are asked to leave, then if they return our community leader have to file civil trespass with clerk. its crazy
so we police our selves and politely ask persons to stay out...

I'm certain that everyone here understands that certain elites who experience these crimes perpetrated upon them will most certainly be supported by the DA who will prosecute. Those here who live in Dallas are not the elite, I would wager.
