I thankfully don't think that will happen where I live, I've purposely had my elementary aged kids write about when I took them to a shooting range on a "what did you do this weekend" type of thing the teacher was writing smiley faces on the page and "wow" so yeah, I'm hoping not.

I beg to differ. You make it sound like the incidental product of a stupid policy. It isn't. It's a deliberate part of the prog objective to stigmatize gun ownership.
Being a teacher I can assure you that the people who made this decision simply aren't that smart. You've heard the saying "...those that can't do, teach". Well, in the public education system, the rest of that saying should be those that can't teach become administrators.

I'm not talking about the teachers though, I'm talking about the people who make the policy. As far as the teachers go, it's like any organization, there are a range of people from those who oppose the policy and basically ignore it to those who feel self-important in proportion to how zealously they enforce it.

I was speaking of the admins who decide that a piece of paper torn in the shape of an "L" falls under the zero tolerance weapons policy.

I agree. The left is trying to change attitudes of ANY gun. What better way of getting rid of ALL guns........through the children. I'd wager that this kid will not even want to touch a real firearm for fears of being in trouble again.

My wife and her friends must be the exception to the rule. All conservative, all wanting to change the system for the better, all smart as whips. But, for the most part, it's true for the public indoctrination system.

When I was in school, my teachers forced us to draw pictures of guns (between "K" and "M"; note the high-capacity magazine next to it):
