I'm snowed in. I never in my lifetime thought I'd say that, but it's true. I can't get out of my driveway. I got my SUV pulled out of the garage and about 1/2 into the driveway, then started sliding sideways onto my front lawn. Right now it's 1/2 way on the lawn & 1/2 way in the driveway about perpendicular to it.

Time for hot chocolate, popcorn and an old black & white movie! :clapping:

To make matters even more bizarre, we are now in a "Freezing Fog Advisory". Freezing fog? Go figure.
Good grief, what's next?

Oh, tomorrow's supposed to get up to 51F here. :headscratch :read: :willynilly:

Its all bad science. In real science you formulate an hypothesis, then your spend the rest of your life testing against your hypothesis. Once you are unwilling to have your viewpoint disproven you have entered into the world of religion. Those at least the article called us skeptics instead of deniers. I honestly thing of Global warming advocates not as alarmist but as witch hunters.

I think part of the problem is that Americans very susceptible to guilty feelings. We have the best quality of life for a wide spectrum of citizenry than any other country. We then look at countries that have civil unrest and dirty drinking and internalize their suffering, wondering what did we do to deserve a good life. When someone tells us our carbon foot-print stomping lifestyle is destroying the planet it does two things.

A. It reinforces guilt. "Of course I am living better than others I am stealing the wealth from nature" It only makes sense mathematically. For every person living three times as comfortably as a caveman, there must be two other people living as actual cavemen. This is clearly false as the infrastructure we enjoy was built by the previous generation. Some aqueducts from ancient Rome still stand today. We are not stealing our good life style from others we have inherited it from our past. And of course hard working public servants that maintain our heritage. I wonder if years from now the next generation will feel guilt over high speed internet.

B. It gives them someone to blame. Everyone loves being righteous. Alas there is no more National Socialist Party of German (NAZI) to fight against anymore. Even communist Soviet Union has fallen. But evil polluting Corporations are still here. They are faceless, carbon emmiting and cannot defend themselves in the court of public opinion a glutton of punishment.

I'd finsih my thoughts and correct my spelling but i have to head out the door

It's actually true. El Niño, which we're in right now, can be enhanced by global climate change.

El Niño and La Niña are like opposite ends of a "pressure valve" involving moisture and heat. RElated to the North Atlantic Oscillation, which can allow very very cold temps from the arctic down.

It's like this: Your son is failing school. He's failed every test all semester. Just because he gets a B doesn't mean he's no longer in trouble.

And yes, I realize people are arguing about the kids grades in this example.
Before I became a computer person, I studied meterology/climatology, so I catch bits and pieces of the climate debate, and some of it makes good sense to me.

It's really simple to think, "oh, Dallas had a foot of snow, global warming's a crock!", but the earth's climate is a complex system. Much like when you eat ice cream too fast, the nerve in your mouth gets overstimulated giving you referred pain elsewhere, the climate is like that, too. Warming one place can cause all sorts of havoc other places.

I guess I'm just rambling. I don't mean to start an argument. I really, honestly, truly want it to be Male Bovine Excrement, I just don't think it is.

I dissagree with ya'all, but I still wanna play :)
