This was an announced CoC meeting. If you and your wife and a few other couples decided you wanted to start wearing a backpatch on leather vests with pretty pink ponies and a top rocker in gold lettering that said "Imagination Riders"; you very well might find yourself at a CoC meeting (just like this one) asking their permission.
That's one of problems with the way stories of this incident are being spread; people who think they know something, when they really don't.
Something similar has been done - check out the Blue Knights (Texas) ;)treadlightly wrote:You know, I think I know how to prevent more violence. The problem is gangs bickering over who owns Texas, right?
How 'bout we issue every DPS trooper a vest. Top rocker, 'DPS'. Main patch, the state seal. Bottom rocker? Of course, TEXAS.
I figure that would answer the question, and with the way group affiliation begats good times, the highways will be friendlier to boot.
What do you think?
I'm sort of late getting to this "party", but I was away from a computer all week, and just now catching up; so this may be ground already covered (as are some of my other comments).cb1000rider wrote:No.. and if that's really what they are, then I'd stand to be corrected... I just have trouble getting my head around that's what these 180 people happened to be - hard core criminals... The only real evidence seems to be wearing a patch, riding a motorcycle, and being present at a location where there was a gunfight... No doubt some of them are bad guys. They're basically charged due to wearing a patch. I mean if that's the way we're going to do it, lets go round up every bandana wearing hoodlum that there is - which would probably be a much more effective exercise...mojo84 wrote:Would you guys be saying the same things about some of them being good guys if it was the Crips and Bloods that shot it out in a busy shopping center?
My apologies - You said "100% of the bikers shooting it out", and somehow my brain quick scanned it into reading "100% of the bikers there". It was a mistake on my part.mojo84 wrote:ScooterSissy wrote:What, exactly, makes them all "bad guys", and from where do you get your information?mojo84 wrote:Yeah, but 100% of the bikers shooting it out at Twin Peaks were bad guys and not choir boys.

It's the bottom territory rocker that matters. As long as the others don't copy the patches of the established gangs, they don't worry about it.
Also, because they think they can extort money from me because I put a Texas patch at the bottom of my vest at the risk of physical harm alone makes them bad guys.
The guys that were killed were all known biker gang members.
Just a question here. If I go out and buy a $40,000 motorcycle for my wife and myself, spend thousands of dollars for matching "biker gear" at the Harley dealer, and wear leather jackets with whatever I want on them, why do I then need to ask permission of anyone?ScooterSissy wrote: This was an announced CoC meeting. I have wondered the same thing. Maybe they want to be noticed.Oldgringo wrote:Setting aside the issues of shootings, stabbings and other questionable activities for a moment, why do the biker's cycles have to be so aggressively loud? The Honda Gold Wings have a very friendly sound.

I had an incident years ago where even my loud pipes (tips w/o mufflers) wouldn't wake up the old couple in a '57 Chevy, but a brogan to the front door sure did!AndyC wrote:"Loud pipes save lives" - I have some empathy for that, having being almost sideswiped by cars as a youngster.
If it's too loud, you're too old,Oldgringo wrote:Setting aside the issues of shootings, stabbings and other questionable activities for a moment, why do the biker's cycles have to be so aggressively loud? The Honda Gold Wings have a very friendly sound.
