I actually had the unique priviledge to hear that story direct from the man himself z"l. My wife and I were involved with a Jewish internatonal rescue & relief organization for many years, and Nimoy came and spoke to us at one of our retreats. Many of the moral quandries that Star Trek explored were based in the bible, as I certain you must have recognized as well. Even fewer people know that WIlliam Shatner was also Jewish...Shatner's paternal grandfather, Wolf Schattner, anglicized the family name to "Shatner". All of Shatner's grandparents were Jewish immigrants (from Austria, Poland, Hungary, and Ukraine) and he was raised in Conservative Judaism.

Leonard Nimoy (March 26, 1931 - February 27, 2015) RIP

Although he was an accomplished actor in other venues, he will forever be known as Spock. Interesting!

He was also an accomplished photographer, as well. A man of many arts.

He will indeed be missed.
