The judge isn't going to let in the ME's new opinion that the marajuana in TM's blood could have had an effect on TM?

The ME didn't want to give them up. So now the lawyers know what he thought might be important. He stated he made the notes as answers to questions the defense might ask.
I felt a little bad for him. . . I don't think he's being misleading or coy. . . he seems to feel a huge weight or responsibility to be accurate and has significant anxiety over public speaking, so he spent over 100 hours reviewing his reports in preparation for the testimony. Nobody told him they have a right to see any written notes. Forgive me for brushing with broad strokes, but there's probably a reason he chose to spend his days in a quiet lab with deceased people instead of, say, in outside sales or as the next Dr. Oz.

I have a close friend from Japan who has the same nervous mannerisms and penchant for dogged preparation.

Regardless, that was a pretty captivating moment.
Unrelated, but for some reason this reminds me of Los Angeles' old ME, Thomas Noguchi, known as "The Coroner to the Stars" for all the celebrity autopsies he performed: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Noguchi.

He was eventually forced out of his position because he blabbed details to the press in the deaths of actors William Holden and Natalie Wood before any determination had been made yet as to whether or not a crime had been committed. The list of notables on whom he performed autopsies includes Marilyn Monroe, Robert F. Kennedy, Janis Joplin, Albert Dekker, William Holden, John Belushi, Natalie Wood, Sharon Tate, and Gia Scala. But as I seem to recall from living there at the time, it was the Tate/La Bianca murders and the capture and trials of the Manson family is what really rocketed Noguchi into celebrity status.

This trial is just FULL of potential for an appeal to declare it a mistrial.

I did not believe the judge was necessarily biased against the defense until now. The prosecution witness, an employee of the state and a medical expert, has changed his opinion on whether a substance found in Martin's body (THC - marijuana) could have affected him on the night of the incident and yet she STILL will not allow this information in front of the jury?

Ridiculous and obviously one-sided.

West was just masterful at using the word "toxicology" about 150 times to discuss the protocol of the autopsy without mentioning the actual report. He got close enough to the line that the jury twice hear the judge remind him that "there has been a pre-trial ruling on this subject and I'll ask council to abide by that."

So, now, based on this masterful footwork, by not allowing the evidence, the judge might be actually hurting the prosecutor. Some on the jury are sure to wonder "How intoxicated WAS he?" not realizing it was essentially trace amounts of THC found in Martin's body.

And, of course, as TAM said, he laid a nice foundation for appeal just in case.

Kind of mind boggling, isn't it?

"rlol" Nobody knows anything about the autopsy better than the ME -- Except he doesn't remember anything.

This is the first time I have had a chance to watch any portion of the trail and all I am completely perplexed but the Judge. This is a railroad if I have ever seen one.

Hearing a moan on a 911 tape IMMEDIATELY after he was shot and 10 minutes before he was pronounced does not mean he was alive for 10 minutes. Call reflex+Medic Arrival Time+Assessment could easily equal 10 minutes before the DRT call.

Added in Edit: And here my blood pressure was doing so well after Florida.

If I understood him, I gathered they heard this other gunshot victim crying out for 10 minutes on the 911 call. But I may have misunderstood.

IDK, he didn't say that one way or the other. IIRC he said the 911 heard the guy's "sounds of pain" on the call and he was "pronounced 10 minutes later". Could have been a sustained call, he just didn't say.

Added in Edit: FWIW, I have treated and transported a biker that was shot through the right ventricle and left inferior lobe who went home. 'Course he was a might heavier than TM.
