Two new studies confirm gun control's worst nightmare...

Post by JJVP »

....More guns, less crime.
Two new studies released at the beginning of May 2013 have shown that the primary factor in the reduction of the number of gun homicides and violent gun crimes is not gun control, but rather the proliferation of legal gun ownership.

Not spam. Just an advertisement. Close the ad and read the article.

Great news JJVP. :anamatedbanana I would say that gun's provide a "guardian" and make a target unsuitable - what I'm referring to is "Routine Activities Theory" which states that crimes occur because of the following elements:
1. Motivated offenders
2. Suitable targets
3. The absence of capable guardians.

Actually the title of the article is misleading (surprise, surprise). It's a superficial review of two studies that show violent crime is dropping even though more guns are being sold. The article offers no "proof" that more guns = less crime, only that more guns does not equal more crime.

You haven't missed anything. ;-)

Don't know why some people are getting pop ups. I go to the page on my iPad using Safari and go straight to the article.

Here are some excerpts
In a study released by Pew Research, violent gun crimes are significantly lower now than they were at their peak during the mid 1990s. Gun homicides declined 49% from 1993 to 2010, despite the fact that population in the United States grew during the same period.
The data also showed that six-in-ten firearms deaths are actually suicides, meaning they are not victims of criminal violence.
The same trends are mirrored in a May 2013 Justice Department study from the Bureau of Justice Statistics. According to this study, firearms homicides in 2011 are down 39% since 1993, while non-fatal violent crimes involving firearm declined 69% during the same period.
What these studies do is validate the More Guns Less Crime study by John Lott.

Well, not in this case. But when it supports an anti-gun agenda, it sure does.

I don't believe the anti's need even correlation to promote their idiocy.
