The better fix for Texas is to shut down public schools and privatize education. With few exceptions, big city school districts are nothing more than poor daycare centers.

Chas.
:iagree:

If parents had to spend their own money, instead of sticking other people with the bill, they would probably pay more attention to the edutainment daycare their kids get. If not, at least it's their money they're wasting on football stadiums instead of teaching the 3Rs.

Not to mention maybe we could manage to do away with property taxes if we got rid of public schools. I realize they fund other things in addition to public school, but that is certainly a large portion of it.

Its hard to argue that I truly own my home when I have to pay taxes (or rent, whichever term you prefer) to the county every year for the privilege of continuing to own it. Since they can seize my property if I refuse or fail to pay property taxes, I'm no better than a mere renter living on government land.

AND making me pay property taxes to finance government run schools manages to fulfill not one, but TWO of the ten planks of Karl Marx's Communist Manifesto.

1) Abolition of private property in land and application of all rents of land to public purpose.

10) Free education for all children in government schools. Abolition of Children's Factory Labor in it's Present Form. Combination of Education with Industrial Production.

Just sayin. :tiphat:

Now that's something I could support. So much for being a "land owner". :grumble
