I think that this applies only to federal courts.AFCop wrote:speedsix wrote:...may not even go to a Grand Jury now... http://www.sun-sentinel.com/news/local/ ... 9719.story" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
That would be a great disservice to justice...... and a violation of the 5th Amendment of the U. S. Constitution which states:
"No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases ...
I hope I am not the one thinking this....

AFCop quoted the US Constitution. Many states have included this or similar wording in their constitutions.speedsix wrote:http://www.south-floridaattorney.com/cr ... n-florida/
Section 10. No person shall be tried for a capital crime or other felony, unless on presentment or indictment by grand jury, except as is otherwise provided in this Constitution, and except in cases of impeachment, and in cases in the militia when in active service in time of war, or which the State, with the consent of Congress, may keep, in time of peace.

...this part makes the point here: "... Twenty-three states (Alabama, Alaska, Delaware, Florida, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and West Virginia) plus the District of Columbia require that indictments be used to charge certain crimes. You do know the old aphorism, "A grand jury would indict a ham sandwich"? The times when a grand jury declines to indict are definitely in the minority. The National Association for Legal Gun Defense wants to contribute $10,000 toward George Zimmerman's legal expenses, a member said today.
The group represents gun owners involved in self-defense shooting cases, said attorney Blue Rannefeld of Fort Worth, Texas.
Rannefeld said he has not been able to contact Zimmerman, 28, and is trying to reach Zimmerman's attorney, Craig Sonner of Altamonte Springs to make the group's offer of assistance.

I would like to see someone start an online petition to have Rosie O'Donnel arrested because she is ugly, stupid, and has a big mouth. It would probably get a lot of signatures.
It would be funny and also make a statement about the uselessness of the online petitions to have Zimmerman arrested.

God Bless America, and please hurry.
