You could simply change the word "firework" to "firearm" and the article is exactly the same. Funny how the nanny state proponents and general kill joys infect everything.
I think we are still reeling from the horrid climate that unchecked PC progressive thought has wrought in this country. I hope we will be "land of the free" again some day.

Somebody voted these people into office and somebody can vote them out, can't they?olafpfj wrote:http://www.detnews.com/article/20111216 ... irecracker

Re: Its not just firearms that are demonized
Its not just voting them out that will return this nation to sanity, but it does help. The schools are run by statists and collectivists. And I mean all levels of schools, from pre-Ks all the way up to universities. As long as these places are "infected", they will continue to turn out another group of the people currently infesting so many of our nation's political offices. At the root of all of it is one thing, no matter what they call it: a "worship" of Karl Marx and his "teachings". Its another reason they have such a problem with religion; they can't stand the competition. And zero tolerance, political correctness, and nanny state killjoys are part and parcel of the socialist mentality. I promise you that I am not "tinfoil hatting" on this one...its been a slow progress downward that this nation has gone through, and I don't see it turning around any time soon. Since the media (by and large trained in the same "journalist" schools) isn't going to talk about this, and neither is our "entertainment industry", then it will only be by word of mouth. But, you don't have to believe me...look it up for yourself, and do your own research. It makes it so much more apparent when you gather the knowledge for yourself. I hate to use this analogy, but it kind of works: its a lot like that Matrix thing in that its all around you and yet you cannot see it if you don't know how to look for it. (Minus the computer program killers, of course.olafpfj wrote:http://www.detnews.com/article/20111216 ... irecracker

I'm confident that most all here are more than familiar with the Federalist papers, but if you're not familiar with the Anti-Federalists, you should check this link to West El Paso Information Network.

Would that it were that simple. I've voted for a lot of people who promised one thing and did the exact opposite after the election without telling us. Our current POTUS is a great example (and no, I didn't vote for him.) There are some like Mayor Bloomburg who are quite upfront about their intent to subjugate their electorate and if the electorate puts them into office, they deserve that subjugation. Many of the others promise an end to big government and its intrusion, only to loose their way towards that end immediately after after the swearing in ceremony.Oldgringo wrote:Somebody voted these people into office and somebody can vote them out, can't they?olafpfj wrote:http://www.detnews.com/article/20111216 ... irecracker

I marvel at how many people rail against government intervention into their lives and then every time a problem arises, want a government solution for it. The nanny state control freaks are only too happy to oblige. The truth is that many people don't want to be free because it comes with the responsibility for their decisions.

I'm afraid that is gone forever. I doubt we will ever return to the days when you could order a firearm from the Sears catalog, hear a prayer before a high school football game, have a line of credit at the drug store soda fountain, ect.olafpfj wrote: I hope we will be "land of the free" again some day.
