But instead of Britons regaining the right to defend themselves what we will see is that the government seize more power. And while the riots will wither away the governments new found power will not.

I noticed that too - cops over there seem to be handcuffed by their own rules, excuse the pun.

If I were in charge it would be something along the lines of "Fix bayonets! Front rank - kneel! Volley - fire! Charge!"

But what do I know - I'm just an uncouth Highlander with a love of cold steel in my DNA

...I think it'd be highly effective...a fixed bayonet would make an unarmed ME remember somewhere else I was late for an appointment...more intimidating than a gun...they oughta try it out....

Warning: Video bleeped for bad language

This is in regards to a 12 year old boy involved in the rioting.
"His mother, sitting beside the boy's father, wiped tears from her eyes as the court was told she handed him in after seeing wanted photos of her son being circulated by Greater Manchester Police."
"She is on benefits, does not live with the boy's father and has 10 other children, the court heard."

To paraphrase (omitting the bad language), the boy's mother says that it is all the government's fault because they don't do anything for the kids.

Apparently their tolerance extends to situations where those traditions are no religion and criminal culture.

They're reaping what they've sown.

But hey, the British government is going to crack down. Apparently they're even considering such drastic measures as not allowing those convicted in the rioting to ride public transportation for free anymore (unfortunately, while my comment may seem a little sarcastic, it is also true, according to the British media). So you see, with such harsh measures, they're taking this pretty seriously.
