I guess that I'm just not getting it. The article was great but I have a really hard time thinking that it wasn't a Conservative that wrote it.

Perhaps you can help me bridge that gap.

Read the background section.
I did and I didn't get it the first time.
The rich do not care if the Second Amendment is taken away and every gun stripped out of every home in the United States as they will always have access to guns and can even hire a private small army and station them around the perimeter of the house and residence and call it the protection of the American Dream
Mayor Bloomy comes to mind when I read this. I'm not buying that the average, run of the mill guy with more than $1M in the bank wants to take my guns. This is not a rich versus poor class warfare issue at all. I don't think Bill Gates gives a rip whether I have an arsenal in my house - because he isn't trying to control me. Mayor Bloomy is.

Let's do quick look around and build a list of names of those who are publicly advocating the repeal of the 2nd Amendment. I suspect that the answer will be that the list will be made up [abbreviated profanity deleted] the same group who believes that Constitution, to quote the Pirates of Caribbean movie, is "more like guidelines."

Well ... 1997, Bill Gates contributed $35,000 in support of a Washington state ballot initiative supporting gun control

...and Ronald Regan signed anti-gun legislation. There is no such thing as a perfect ideology where someone in power or someone with "means" (very rich) is a perfect pro-gun proponent. My point was that the preponderance of rich people are not out actively campaigning against guns. The preponderance of liberal politicians are.

I was having a margarita with one of my brothers back in California a couple of weeks ago. He is a very liberal guy, and a touring musician. He also has no problem with guns. They're just not his hobby, like they are for me or our other brother. In fact, he told me he was thinking of acquiring one for home defense and asked my opinion about various 9mm semi autos.

After a couple of margaritas had gone by the wayside, he told me he was really more of a libertarian. Then he also proceeded to tell me that unions created the middle class, and he had no problem with government mandating union membership in various industries. I didn't bother to try and explain to him that this pretty much negated any claims to libertarianism he might be holding. Ah well....At least we have guns and guitars in common.

If you'd been talking about a girlfriend, there'd be a country song in there. :biggrinjester:

Sounds like a Country song:

"Guitars, Rugers, and...well armed women...the only things that keep me hanging on...."

Maybe that's the answer. Do these "gun toatin liberals" actually know what they are claiming to believe in when they call them selves liberals?
maybe you could shed some light on that loadedliberal :biggrinjester: since you're a closet conservative and all :woohoo
