carrying into liquor stores

#1

Post by hoot »

I was almost into Segals Liquor Store yesterday when I realized I was carrying.
I walked back to the car and place my handgun into the arm rest before going back to Segals.
I could not remember if carrying into Segals was OK or not. :headscratch

Now I am reading the Texas CHL document

http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/InternetFo ... CHL-16.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

and I cannot find (a)Segals Liquor Store (b)Liquor Store (c) Liquor.
But I can find alcohol in several paragraphs.
In particular, I found the paragraph regarding the 51% ON SITE rule.
But Segals has an ABUNDANCE of signs which read "no on site consumption".

I am open for suggestions.

It is perfectly legal to carry if you are LICENSED into liquor stores, convenience stores, grocery stores etc. that sell alcohol for off premise consumption. The only fly in the ointment is if the store is posted 30.06.

Liqueur stores generally have the blue sign (Can't carry unless you have a CHL)

Unless they are posted 30.06, you're legal. 51% only applies on ON PREMISES consumption, so they intend for it to apply to bars.

I've carried to liquor stores plenty of times with not a single problem. Never seen one posted 30.06 either.

I gotta tell you, if I owned a liquor store or convenience store, I'd set up checkers tables and a free pickle barrel and free juke box, and invite all CHLs to live there.

Yep. One store near us has an old "licensed or unlicensed possession" sign, but it's my understanding that said sign no longer has any legal force.

Incidentally, the same store has a much bigger sign, outside, that says "We buy gold, guns..."

I don't know about a liquor store, but I'd love to have my own little hole in the wall bar and grill. :cheers2:

I do it all of the time...in Texas. Well, maybe not all of the time ;-) but certainly everytime.

Last month in NC, the state ABC store had a gunbuster sign on the door and that is all of the notice that is required in North Carolina
