Seriously?! Wow

Got any references?? I'd sure like to read about this!

EDIT: Found the bill. The bill, as designed, just requests a study. It does not actually overrule anything.

Lieberman and some cosponsors filed the bill to get the study done already. This has the backing of the dept of homeland security and many governors are pressing for it. First time ms. Lee did something worthwhile. hahaha!
It will be aimed at completely over riding HOAs/CIAs/ Neighborhood Nazis and Municipal regulations.

Where I live in Pearland, we disolved the HOA and threw em out. The city has a good relationship with us and does not limit antenna structures unless it is flat out unsafe. :patriot:

That would be great if it went through. I'll be keeping an eye on it for sure. :thumbs2:

You may have dissolved the HOA, but technically any covenants on property there still stand, even if unenforced.
Just keep that in mind if you manage to really piss off one of your neighbors, and they suddenly decide that it's worth it to take you to court. :thumbs2:

I have been really shocked by the number of people willing to post their call signs on this forum! I have been licensed since 1993 No-Code Tech and renewed my license in 2003. While telling everyone that you are licensed and giving out your call sign is not normally problematic, I have been very reluctant to post my call sign on a public gun forum. Any person with limited knowledge of Ham Radio can find any number of call sign databases and have a little more information than I would like to post. Why not just post a sign in your front yard that says hey bad guys here is my real name, my address, and a list of firearms I own? With a little more digging on the forum they might just learn a little too much about your defense strategy or other personal details of benefit to a bad guy. :headscratch

Am I a little paranoid or did the thought just not occur to anyone?

I had thought of that. But anyone who reads my posts here can figure out my name anyways. They can get my call sign (and any else's) by listening in on radio traffic. If they do take the time to find out additional information because I gave out my call sign printed here, then they also know from reading here that there are multiple weapons in the house and multiple adults in the house able to use those weapons...what they don't know is what other security measures I may have in place. If they choose to be that kind of ignorant, then whatever happens is on them. :evil2:

Yes you might be a little paranoid there magicglock, but that's your right.

Many people here use their proper names without fear. The Founder of the forum uses his PLUS posts his picture(as many other forum members do as well).

All guns have at least two safeties. One's digital, one's cognitive. In other words - keep the digit off the trigger until ready to fire, and THINK. Some guns also have mechanical safeties on top of those. But if the first two don't work, the mechanical ones aren't guaranteed. - me

KD5LBK here, and I use it mostly for storm spotting and when in my city's EOC.

I know that. I didn't claim OTARD covered amateur radio. I brought up OTARD because it's routinely ignored:
Many HOAs notoriously ignore the current OTARD law saying they can't restrict reception antennas. I doubt they'll pay any more attention to this one, unless there are penalties involved.

Ah, okay, in that regard, yes, I agree that it is frequently ignored. It just goes to show that individuals need to do the research themselves before anything, because there are entities out there that will blatantly ban or restrict things, not knowing that they cannot actually do so by law.
