Ramifications for LEO marrying felon?

My brother-in-law spent the better part of his twenties in prison for one thing or another. He's in his mid-thirties now and living straight as far as I can tell. He has been dating a young lady (21 y.o.) for a few weeks now, and they've decided they are going to get married next spring.

This young lady wants to go into LE. I'm not sure whether the bride-to-be intends to be a city police officer, FBI, or even how serious she is about it, but it got me thinking...

I know it will be a sticky situation for her to keep a weapon at home and out of his "constructive possession". What I don't know is will she face any challenges in getting hired having married a felon? Or will she get hired, but then not be able to advance or get required clearances (FBI?)?

I guess she could be affected as much, or more, by stigma rather than any actual policy . Is anyone aware of any such policies? What would you LEOs think of someone joining your ranks who had married a felon?

I don't see how she can get around the possession issue.

A few weeks ago, Guntalk dealt with a similar caller question. She can't keep a weapon at home where the felon has access to it. Plain and simple.

She could have a safe and not give him the combination. Either way it ISA stick situation the needs to be disculled with a lawyer.

At least on the call, a claimed lawer said the safe situation was not acceptable. Basically, as unfair as it sounds, she loses her 2nd Amendment right in the home by marrying/living with him.

A former leader (president, I think) of the SAPD union went to prison on felony corruption charges a few years ago. His wife was a SAPD deputy chief (I think, it may have been another ranking position). Maybe since he was actually in prison and wasn't living at home she didn't have a problem, but eventually he will get out -- more likely he is already out, this was several years ago. I wonder how that was dealt with.
