Age For Handguns
Is there an age limit for possession of handguns? I know you have to be 21 to purchase a handgun, but is there an age limit to posses a handgun?

Re: Age For Handguns
Perhaps more relevant to everyday life are sections 46.02 and 46.06 of the Texas Penal Code. 46.02 makes it illegal for anyone under the age of 21 to carry a handgun in a public place other than his own car or a vehicle under his control. 46.06 makes it illegal to give or sell a firearm to a person under 18 without the written permission of the parent (if a sale) or the consent (if not a sale).
I should point out that section 46.02 was ruled unconstitutional for people 18 to 21, but it is being appealed. I will also point out that 46.06 makes the giver/seller a criminal, not the minor who receives the weapon.
So, effectively, it is illegal for a person under 18 to carry a handgun other than in his car or on his own premises. But they may own the gun at home at any age if their parents consent.
