I would agree that these particular migrants probably came from Texas. But I would curious on your opinion of the sheriff's claim that they were lied to as the basis for a crime. Kidnapping, I though, required a physical force be applied. If I lure a consenting adult across State lines with a fabricated story, is it still kidnapping? Also, in his video statement, he directly admitted that he did not know what local, State or Federal statute had been broken but he knew that the action was "wrong" Doesn't that automatically make him guilty of malfeasance for opening an investigation without a specific crime at its base? I have long rolled my eyes over traffic stops that were initiated because a license plate light was out but at least those have a written requirement as their base. This one has nothing.
That is an interesting article. And it kind of questions the Democrats claim that it is human trafficking to fly willing migrants to another state. But in this case, they did start in Texas which puts it in Salazar's jurisdiction, if a crime occurred.

And you have hit the nail on the head. There has to be a crime. In Texas, smuggling of persons requires it to be for the purpose of concealing them from the police or to induce them to stay in the country in violation of federal law. Kidnapping requires it to be using force or to prevent his liberation by concealing him. Obviously, by telling the news about it there was no intent to conceal and no one has alleged force. That leaves unlawful restraint. In Texas that requires you to interfere substantially with a person's liberty by moving him to another place without his consent. Consent is not there if deception was used. The problem with this one is that there is no allegation of interfering with anyone's liberty. The without consent is also made harder by having them sign releases but even that allows for the possibility of deception to get consent.

Overall, I don't see enough to justify an investigation. I do not think Harvey should have started one without more information. I would love to know who asked him to start this investigation. It is a political stunt as much as the flight was, but he is so far out of his league that it is barely the same game. His politics to get elected are along the lines of T-Ball while DeSantis is more along the lines of the major leagues.

And I thought Harvey was smarter than that. He has gotten so bad that if anyone asked me if Harvey Salazar was a patrolman with SAPD at Prue Road Subststation on the midnight shift while I was there, I would certainly deny knowing him. Nope, never met the man at all.

these illegals were flown from texas VIA CBP or DHS to florida correct? I think thats what i read earlier in the week.
so DHS CBP is guilty of trafficking? they fly these people all over the country at Night mostly and dump them in communities
so cbp and dhs would be co defendants???
