Bexar County sheriff launches investigation into Florida flying migrants to Martha’s Vineyard
"Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar has launched a criminal investigation into Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis flying 48 migrants from San Antonio to Martha’s Vineyard last week. The decision comes on the heels of immigration rights groups and Democrats accusing Republicans of exploiting vulnerable migrants for political points by promising them jobs and housing, only to fly them to an island off the coast of Massachusetts that was not warned people needing help were coming.
Salazar, sheriff for the county where San Antonio is located, said it is too early in the investigation to name suspects or know what laws were broken. But he said he is talking to an attorney representing some of the migrants and trying to figure out what charges should be made and against whom."
Me thinks this sheriff is out of his lane... cant believe these guys

All the migrants volunteered to go. Sheriff should be fired and investigated for corruption.powerboatr wrote: ↑Tue Sep 20, 2022 12:20 pm https://www.texastribune.org/2022/09/19 ... stigation/

They were illegally “lured”.
So he’s not up for re-election in November?

He isn't. His current term ends December 31, 2024.
The official Bexar County Sheriff's website: https://www.bexar.org/2557/Sheriff-Javi ... mand-Staff.
His personal (past) campaign website: http://www.sheriffsalazar.com/.
Some of his notable endorsements: AFL-CIO San Antonio Central Labor Council, Bexar County Tejano Democrats, Stonewall Democrats of San Antonio. So, yeah: he's pure Blue.
Other than the DeSantis fiasco, his most recent news headlines came just yesterday: "Victims’ families call for state to remove Bexar County sheriff from Anaqua Springs case; Families accuse BCSO of mishandling case and accuse Sheriff Salazar of attacking them." https://www.ksat.com/news/local/2022/09 ... ings-case/
After being fired from his job as Miami police chief, Art Acevedo is now evidently working as an analyst for CNN. Too bad he isn't in a position to offer fellow left-politicized Javier Salazar a law enforcement job after he gets voted out of office. Two families made strong accusations Monday against Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar and his office for the handling of shooting deaths of two young girls and their mother in the Anaqua Springs neighborhood in Boerne in 2019....
The families want BCSO investigators removed from the case.
“[Sheriff Salazar has] inflicted more pain on this family than anyone else other than whoever it was who killed their daughters,” said the Bribiescas family attorney Joseph Hoelscher.

He's a Democrat, it figures. Why is he not outraged when Biden was flying these illegals in the middle of the night? Why is he not outraged at the huge quantities of fentanyl that are coming into the country? Why is he not outraged at the number of criminals that are coming across the border?
But, fly 50 people to Martha's Vineyard, then he's outraged? The Sheriff needs an enema!

BTW, new stats just in from the border. The fiscal year ends on September 30, and--not counting the several hundred thousands of got-aways, of course--this fiscal year so far there have been 78 people encountered crossing the border who were on the terrorist watchlist. That's over triple the number from the previous five years combined.
The Biden Border at its finest.

How would he have Standing in the Case? Not his jurisdiction, not his State in either location, not his responsibility in any shape, way, or form???

The original "crime" is reported to have happened at the Migrant Resource Center in San Antonio where he is the county sheriff. At least some reports said that the 50 were convinced in San Antonio to go to Massachusetts. DeSantis paid for it and coordinated it, but it happened here.crazy2medic wrote: ↑Tue Sep 20, 2022 8:29 pm How would he have Standing in the Case? That makes some sense to me considering these were all Venezuelans. They came up through Mexico to Texas. Florida gets primarily the Cubans fleeing.

I would agree that these particular migrants probably came from Texas. But I would curious on your opinion of the sheriff's claim that they were lied to as the basis for a crime. Kidnapping, I though, required a physical force be applied. If I lure a consenting adult across State lines with a fabricated story, is it still kidnapping? Also, in his video statement, he directly admitted that he did not know what local, State or Federal statute had been broken but he knew that the action was "wrong" Doesn't that automatically make him guilty of malfeasance for opening an investigation without a specific crime at its base? I have long rolled my eyes over traffic stops that were initiated because a license plate light was out but at least those have a written requirement as their base. This one has nothing.

San Antonio and Bexar Coubty used to be our second most favorite place to visit in Texas. I now never stop there for anything.

I have been to Martha’s Vineyard once. Wasn’t cheap to get there. Nice place, kind of pricey. Didn’t want to rent a car so I stayed in town for the day. Wanted to see the bridge where Mary Joe Kopeckni was killed by Senator Ed’s drunk driving, but no bus tours there. Lots of Russian recent immigrants hawking rental mopeds at the ferry dock. Decide against that as too dangerous. So just walked around and had lunch. Took the ferry back that evening.
So why did the Venezuelan’s leave the island? They had money in their pockets. I understand there were jobs available.
Why did they go to an army base? Were they forced by soldiers to go? Coerced? Threatened? It’s a free country, couldn’t they have stayed if they wanted to?
Inquiring minds want to know? Were they arrested or threatened with arrest?
