A positive test doesn’t make the President or First Lady sick. It’s just a test result, they are not feeling sick according to White House doctor.
Remain calm.
Exactly! But the positive test, symptoms or not, have a huge impact on his ability to campaign at a very crucial point in the process. MSM is already pumping the angle of him not wearing a mask. What a bunch of jerks!
"Pumping," or not, it is a fact. Leadership carries risks, if you do in fact, lead from the front, but this was a high-risk decision.
No it was not. A mask WOULD NOT have prevented him getting Covid. A mask is at best thought to possibly prevent one from spreading it. Again! A MASK DOES NOT PREVENT YOU FROM GETTING COVID!
Yes, sir, by the CDC's own guidelines, you are correct. Only a properly worn mask DESIGNED to exclude virus particles will aid in prevention for the wearer. The other masks people are urged to wear are to help prevent THEM from potentially spreading it to others via droplets if they are infected but do not know it.
If wearing a cheap mask prevents the spread of Covid by an infected person, and an N95 or similar mask prevents the wearer from contracting (and spreading) Covid the end result should be far fewer infections if everyone wore a mask of some sort. So how is asking everyone to wear a mask a bad thing?
Wearing a cheap mask only decreases how far sputum and mist travel when someone coughs or sneezes. The virus goes right through it like a fly going through a chain link fence. There is only anecdotal evidence it actually does anything at all. But aside from the fact that science says they don't work, they do tend to make people feel good. Kind of like a woobie makes a three year old feel safe.
My main point was that wearing a mask WOULD NOT have protected Trump from getting covid. Truth is, he is to be admired for doing his job regardless of risk to himself. He could have hid under his bed like so many other folks do.
Just got off the phone with a friend who's a Biden supporter. He actually said--evidently with a straight face based on the conversation--that his suspicion was that Trump got infected intentionally so that he could get some "sympathy votes," and so that he wouldn't have to debate Biden in event #2.

President Trump remains in good spirts, has mild symptoms, and has been working throughout the day," press secretary Kayleigh McEnany said. "Trump will be headed to Walter Reed Medical Center shortly — Out of an abundance of caution, and at the recommendation of his physician and medical experts, the President will be working from the presidential offices at Walter Reed for the next few days. President Trump appreciates the outpouring of support for both he and the First Lady.”

White House physician Sean Conley said Trump has received an injection of eight grams of Regeneron's drug, which is a combination of two antibodies, and is called REGN-COV2....
Regeneron, a New York biotech firm, started clinical trials on June 11 for the experimental treatment, and recently reported some promising signs that the treatment can reduce help people's immune systems fight the virus and reduce the chance that they'll be hospitalized.
The AP Newswire is also reporting application of "an experimental treatment," but they haven't as yet named it as being the Regeneron product.
Er... What's with the "abbreviated profanity deleted" thing in the URL? It's a Business Insider news article and there's no profanity in the link.

It is cool they have treatments like that if they work. I just have to wonder if any of us would get the opportunity to try that if needed. I am not sure the insurance would even cover it due to it being "experimental". I sure wish I were a billionaire.

The hydroxy is the first thing I would ask for at the first signs of symptoms. Can we even get that stuff here? I had heard something about them trying to forbid Doctors give it for Covid.

Most people aren't wearing N95 masks, for starters. Those are hard to get, being reserved primarily for health professionals and others who must be in close contact with likely infected people. Additionally, those masks must be worn correctly, and they cannot be adjusted once put on, until they are removed and disposed of.
I feel folks have chosen to abandon reasonable and logical approaches to helping slow the spread of this virus because of politics. Many only see red or blue, they fail to see the rest of the spectrum. They’ve limited their ability to gather their own facts and analyze them. They have chosen to only believe what the red side says or what the blue side says.
Trump is the President of the United States. He could have easily obtained N95 masks or better all day long for himself and staff. Would masks alone have been enough, probably not. Would more drastic or intelligent measures taken in addition to consistently wearing proper masks have been enough, quite possibly. As the POTUS, protecting himself should have been a greater priority than he made it though. At the end of the day Trump had access to the smartest people not only in our country, but other countries as well. If he had chosen to utilize those resources in a truly collaborative effort we would all be better off than we are now.
The POTUS,FLOTUS, and multiple other staffers close to the president becoming infected should be a wake call that the approach taken thus far has been ineffective and a new strategy is needed.

I completely disagree with your assumption that somehow things would be better if. There is absolutely zero way of knowing this. The fact is that we cannot all hide in a basement from the "boogie man". Life has risks. Freedom has risks. I would rather live 5 minutes free than a lifetime as a sheep. President Trump has handled this thing as best as it could be handled. Maybe you forgot the predictions that 1 million people would be dead by now. We are a long way from that dire prediction.
@Engineer-
More people die in car wrecks. I could make an argument that if we limited speed to 10mph car deaths could just about be eradicated. I say just about because some % of folks would still die in cars, due to heart attacks DKA etc , catch my drift?
So we as society assume risk (65mph speed limits as an example) for convenience.
Aside, you do know that even according to CDC now, the mortality rate for Kung flu is comparatively even lower than “ordinary” flu strains we get every year. You get the politicization of this right?
This has nothing to do with hiding in a basement, giving up freedom, or living as sheep. It’s the irrational thought that everything being asked of a person is an attack on their freedom or rights that’s contributing to the situation we are now in. Making temporary sacrifices for the overall greater good is far more patriotic than arguing over silly things like wearing a mask while in public places. There are many smart people in this world who have dedicated their lives to solving complex problems. Trump could have collaborated with them and developed a more responsible and reasonable plan than he chose.
Carry on folks. I’m off to enjoy this nice weather.
