And the really dumb part about that is there are some of us that just plain don't understand. Like me. I don't get racism at all.
1) I grew up primarily in Europe. Most of it was in Germany. I had German and American friends who were every color of the rainbow and never saw a bit of difference between them that was due to skin color.
2) I'm an Air Force Brat. My dad, Pawpaw (here on the board), had people who served under him and over him and they came in every color. I remember Thanksgivings (yes, plural) when I was a kid. Mom cooked up a BUNCH and kept it coming all day. And all day long, unattached soldiers, of every color, would come to our house to grab a bite to eat and enjoy some of the comforts of home-away-from home.
It wasn't the color of someone's skin that made any difference. It was the content of their character. I'll bet that Pop made sure that the jerks in his squadron weren't invited to dinners and I'll also bet that it didn't matter what color they were.
I don't understand racism at all. I guess I was just raised "wrong". Thanks, Pop, for NOT teaching me about this.
