At first the chief was protecting the city now I see he wants to be part of the memorial for the guy.

Naw. He wants to run for political office. My bet is that he has his sights set--at the least--on being mayor of a large heavily blue city. But I think he wants a statewide office.

I have seen several videos of him speaking in a very personal way to protesters. I don't like his politics or the language he uses. However, I think his audience is an important part of the empathetic context. By inserting himself into these groups, he is gaining a little control over their direction. I think he's being clever and effective in channeling the energy of emotional people. Houston's property damage has been less than other comparable cities. HPD has not been shy about arresting people.

I think he is making a good attempt at protecting the city.

We have not had the damage other cities have had.

We have better people.

The police have arrested a lot of people as opposed to giving them space.

Our highest elected officials are all from the majority minority.

Victims family is from here. They have spoken against violence. His funeral will be here.

And maybe Art may have calmed the violence with his rhetoric.

BREAKING:

Prayers for Chief Acevedo - This morning, the Houston Fire Department responded to Acevedo’s residence after reports that a man was in distress. Chief Acevedo had been trying to leave the house when his head would not make it through the french doors he had installed to accommodate his inflated ego.

After several harrowing minutes, Houston firefighters were able to free Acevedo so that he can continue his childish attention seeking behavior.
HPD has announced that they will be widening the doorways at 1200 Travis in order to assure the Chief’s safety.

Last year, a rookie officer was seriously injured when he unknowingly stepped between Chief Acevedo and a television camera.

:smilelol5: This is why we never see Acevedo and Sheila Jackson Lee near each other at any televised event. In each of them the primal urge to be on-camera is such a mandatory directive in their DNA that a vicious, bloody brawl would break out. I'm no SJL fan, but in an MMA bout I might give her a slight edge over the chief...
