What is everyone doing about Easter Sunday???

Easter Sunday is usually a time families all group together. I know many of you have grand children. Going to visit them? Staying at home away from them?

We'll have a small family dinner, but we’re already all living under one roof. Our church is doing online services for now.

Our church is trying to get a movement going where at 10:00am everyone goes on front porch or balcony and sings amazing grace. We have 6 other churches that have committed to doing it as well. So if you hear something that sounds like a badly wounded dog at that time, it’s just me singing

I am trying to make up my mind about going to my Daughter and SIL's house for Easter. My grand daughter is 5 and it has become a tradition to go over there and spend Easter with them. My grand daughter always does an Easter egg hunt and we eat dinner. I am not so much worried about getting anything as I am giving it to her. I was face timing with her Thursday and she said, "Papa, I sure miss you. When are you coming over again?". It about broke my heart. They only live 5 minutes away and I normally see her at least once or twice a week. I have been staying away now for almost a month. My daughter already told her I am coming over on Easter. Grrrr... I just don't know what to do. :confused5

I was kind of wondering if others on the forum were facing similar situations and what they are doing.

We are not going to my parents house or seeing family this Easter... the risk/reward is just not there. I've been almost completely isolated for a month (as have my wife and son) but I have been to the grocery store about every 10 days... I could easily have been exposed, despite my best attempts to keep clean and keep space from others. My Mother is in a risk group that would allow covid to be fatal if contracted so I'm not fooling around.

My hope is that by skipping Easter this year, we get to spend the next several Easters with my folks and family.

For my family's part, we are blessed to all live together under one roof, including my 2 grandkids; so we'll be together for Easter. What we won't be doing is hosting the half-dozen or so unattached friends we usually invite over for most traditional holiday meals. I really feel for grandparents and grandchildren who won’t be able to be together this Easter, and for single people who won’t be able to fellowship with friends.

I have personally taken great comfort in my "Jesus Calling" daily devotional book. The other thing I’m doing is journaling this thing. I keep a journal anyway (although I sometimes miss doing a daily entry), and in addition to scripture that I record, or specific prayers and/or daily thoughts, beginning on 3/19 I also started recording my day to day experience of the pandemic.

It might make some interesting reading down the road a piece.

We had planned on going to Houston to be with my parents, but that's not going to happen. My daughter and her husband were going to go to his sister's, but that's not going to happen, they are both still going to work (considered essential), his sister has a child with severe health issues. Soooo, we'll have Easter here, at home, maybe a roast.

I will be in church. We have people scattered throughout our building where we have sound. We also record the sermon and upload it to our website for members who need to shelter in. I have a lot of health problems, but I haven't been anywhere other than church. I walk through our back door right on the platform and never get close to anyone. Our people are probably more like 12-16 feet apart. Of course it is nowhere our normal crowd size. I sure miss our people.

Well, church services are online now. We won't be getting together with the kids and their families. This is really hard on my wife. But, I have a daughter-in-law that works in a pediatric cardiac ICU. Neither my wife nor I want to risk one of her patients or her. There are some things we could not live with if we were responsible.

We'll be helping with our church's drive-in service and then touching base with family via phone and internet.
