Wrong place. Mods can delete if desired. I am getting it where i should have put it.
I don’t know anyone my friend. I lost a two friends to the flu last year. It wouldn’t surprise me if Dallas didn’t command you get a flu shot that you have no ideal what you are getting.
I want to say this also because I do not want people to think I am not taking this virus serious. I look at this virus as do all virus’. If you are sick stay home. If you are older or if you have a weak immune system and you don’t feel comfortable going out then don’t go. I don’t think it is right for anyone to look down on you and the choices you have made for you, your family, etc... I just don’t think anyone has the right to ORDER me to stay home.

How long until martial law?
In certain extreme situations, the law is inadequate. In order to shame its inadequacy, it is necessary to act outside the law to pursue a natural justice.

Liberals are using this to their full advantage. How come it is only democrat controlled states and cities issuing stay at home orders? Wonder how this will be enforced?
Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins (the chief executive officer of the county) issued the order to shelter-in-place on Sunday afternoon as the number of coronavirus cases in the county surpassed the 100 person mark, the Dallas Morning News reported.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof, or abridging the freedom of speech or of the press, or the right of the people peaceably to assemble and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
3.This Declaration authorizes the County to commandeer or use any private property as provided by law.
I am no constitutional scholar, but I believe that would be a violation of the 5th amendment.

None of which stops them from doing it or enforcing it. With courts slowed, it could be months before it resolved legally.

Can somebody explain to me how this is legal?
Sure I think its a good idea, but it is still PERSONAL responsibility and decisions that should dictate, not top down implimentation.
Friggin police state.
If we depend on people being responsible and making smart decisions we're all dead. Just got to Wal-Mart or the grocery store and see if people can be trusted to do the right thing. They're buying up baby formula and leaving none for those that really need it. I'm all about freedom and very untrusting of the government but most people are idiots.
Those who stock up as part of their life, I have no problem with as they are usually the types who will share with their neighbors. Those who hoard in time of crisis are in effect stealing from their neighbors who also need essential products.
One of the points made in the article I linked to above is the Constitution was designed to curb federal power, but leaves a considerably broader “police power” to the States. The intent was to keep keep power closer to the local level. The 14th Amendment incorporated some of the Bill of Rights against the States, but even then leaves a lot of power to the States and their Governors and other elected leaders. The 5th Amendment says the State must provide “just compensation” but it doesn’t say it can’t commandeer your stuff. American history has any examples of the government commandeering items during an emergency and worrying about the compensation later.
The Texas Constitution is designed to limit the power of the Governor, so the remaining power devolves to the Legislature and the local governments. If the Legislature hasn’t reserved a power to itself, then the local government can use it.
“Which is better - to be ruled by one tyrant three thousand miles away or by three thousand tyrants one mile away?"
Cotton Mathers’ nephew originally said this (not Mel Gibson) in opposition to revolt against King George III. He might have had a point. ;)
