Gotta vent for a minute
Actually 2 vents . The CFO and I went to the new Dickies Arena in Fort Worth Sunday evening for a Mercy Me concert. For those that don’t know, Mercy Me is the Christian group that sings I Can Only Imagine.
Vent/rant #1. I could not find anything about them being posted. However, not wanting to make the long trip back to the car, I left my EDC locked in the safe in my car. Sure enough, no 30.06 or 30.07 signs but a sign stating they expressly prohibited any type of weapon including licensed firearms. They had walk through metal detectors at each entrance with security to send you packing (guy in front tried and received verbal notice).
Vent/rant #2- I was shocked to see beer, wine, and even hard liquor being sold at a Christian concert. Now, I am not a prude and I do like an occasional adult beverage but not at a Christian concert. IMHO only I feel it was wrong

As a prude myself, I take offense at serving of alcohol at a Christian event, shorts & sandals at church, Christian heavy metal, and Kanye/Olsteen tag team preaching.

Never thought about 51%. Don’t see how they sell 51% of their revenue in alcohol.
Average seat price of 55.00 x 14,000= 770,000. That’s a lotta booze sold, even at 10.00 a beer

Jesus’ first miracle was the wine at a marriage between a man and a woman.
Wine was served at the Last Supper.
I understand some get addicted to alcohol.
That is terrible.
But otherwise, like anything in moderation, I have never understood the belief that alcohol and Christianity cannot mix.

That may be a good one to question TABC regarding their "audit." As Steve has said before, it may be that the liquor licensee is not the building owner, thus they make 100% of their revenue from the same of alcohol for on-premises consumption.

Re: Gotta vent for a minute
I personally know many Christians who occasionally have a beer or wine. The sin being when one over indulges to the point of drunkenness. That apparently is the thinking of modern day Christianity. Many years ago I was attempting to get a rise from my mom and told her that Jesus was a moonshiner. After all, he regularly made wine from water. She did not think it was funny... Re: Gotta vent for a minute
I bet Mercy Me had no choice in the matter... it they wanted the concession stands open, the vendor offered the normal array.
