Questionable Search on Live PD.

Shouldn’t the normal situation be that there is RAS or PC before a cop wants to search law abiding citizens?

Why did he want to run the weapon? What led him to think it might be stolen? Does the deputy make it a habit of pulling these unnecessary searches on all citizens exercising their 2A rights? The 4A protects against these searches.

The 4th wasn't violated as he had consent.

It is a regular occurrence on Live PD to run the serial numbers on firearms. I have also seen it on some of the other "cop shows". Northwoods law, Lonestar law and Alaska Troopers all show officers running handgun serial numbers. Funny thing. Seeing it so much had me thinking it was legal.

Last night I was watching Live PD. A county sheriff from MO pulled over a man for no front plate.

That's the reason my Lexus has a front plate on it. The service advisor asked me twice if I wanted the front plate installed.

Odds of someone with a LTC carrying a stolen pistol are prolly slim to none but if it was bought it a private transfer it very well could be and the current owner never know about it.

This is the very reason I always laugh when the seller of a firearm says they want a bill of sale to protect themselves. The seller has zero to worry about, the buyer is the one who should be asking for the bill of sale.
