If they had evidence that made him impeachable, it would already have been done.
It is the leftest plan to keep President Trump in the negative news cycle at least through the next election. They know they have nothing now but their anti Trump innuendo chatter so they will keep it up to try to effect enough votes to change the outcome. I believe that if an impeachment is not confirmed in the Senate, then it has no effect at all.

Separately, I think Trump could run in 2020 (or any future election) even if an impeachment WAS confirmed by the Senate. I don't believe that an impeachment bars someone from ever holding that same office again in the future, although I could be mistaken on that.
