Prayers for those in the path of Harvey

Post by RPBrown »

As the title says, our prayers of protection are with all of those on the gulf coast as this storm strengthens and approaches.
At least some of my kids and grandkids are taking precautions and headed up here for the weekend.

Lifting them up, as well as all the first responders that are already there and those who are heading that way.

definitely praying for all. I got friends/family down there in Harris county too. It looks like it may be a cat 3 hurricane as it makes landfall.

Prayers for safety, hopefully they can get out of the way. Prayers for minimal damage.

I've been so out of touch that I didn't even know this was a thing until last night's news broadcast. My prayers also for everyone's safety.

I got you beat TAM. I wasn't aware of it until one of my kids called yesterday morning and asked if we could put them up for the weekend. I have pretty much stopped watching the news.

Praying for my father-in-law in Georgetown and all other victims. It's too bad I'm going through a job situation right now or I'd try to find a group to go rescuing with. I've always wanted to help a militia or thereabouts with the rescue operations, I just can't swing it this year.

If anyone is interested in helping the victims, the only way to do so long distance that I am 100% sure is not scamming you out of your money is the American Red Cross. There are other methods out there, but I cannot personally verify each one. If you would like to help people affected by disasters big and small, visit redcross.org, call 1-800-RED CROSS or text the word REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation.

Same here. I didn't know about it until I was on a statewide operations call for the bank and the Victoria branch said we are going to shut down on Friday... I can not stand to watch any news any more. As a result I am much happier!

I'm here in Houston. I stopped by Costco today to buy some coffee for my wife, and a bag of sugar, and some vitamins.

I was in the checkout line, and the dude behind me (with two carts full of stuff) asked me why I wasn't preparing. I just smiled, and told him that these nonessential items are all I needed...why did he wait so long to prepare and have to do it all at once?

It was a madhouse, but it was fun to take a leisurely walk through there today while watching all the panicky customers dashing around looking for that one last thing...

Thanks for your prayers everyone. We'll keep as dry and cool as we can down here!

Went to Sam's early this morning at the Lamarque store. The only thing we saw resembling panic buying was most people were buying water. People around here used to hurricanes and are mostly prepared. Most seem to be prepared to hunker down. But a lot of people are undecided. Tidal surge is the biggest concern.

We are prepared minus the water - I had at one point 4-5 gallons of water for just such an occasion. The wife nor I don't drink the tap water, as we ran out of bottled water she was tapping into our emergency supply... Now we're out of our backup/emergency supply and none of the stores in my area have any water(at least none of the stores I've gone to in the last 2 days). :banghead: :mad5

She's not from Texas or the Gulf so she just didn't understand. Now she does... Gonna have to try a few unlikely places for water like Academy or Buckey's to try and find a few gallons.

Prayers for a dramatic weakening of the storm before landfall, for all affected along the coast, and extra prayers for those who are moving toward the storm instead of away.
