I use KeePass 2, storing the database on Dropbox. Accessible from my Apple devices and Windows pc's.

I use Keepass2 androidoffline app on my android. I currently use google drive as my sync platform, although it's more like a backup since I mainly just the app on the phone. As some of the other password managers, it can generate VERY strong passwords. One feature I like on the app I use: It adds a Keyboard to the system, such that when you select an entry inside of the Keepass2 android app, you can then go to the app/webpage where you want to input the password, change the keyboard from the system default to Keepass2Android, and it puts the password directly into the field, BYPASSING the clipboard so something that was monitoring your cut/paste clipboard would be none the wiser. Very useful when using app generated passwords.

In addition to the password to open the database file, you can also specify a key file that must be present to open said file, if you are looking for an additional bit of security.

You wrote it on paper and stored the paper in a safe place that you would remember later, right?

And then you made a note of where you stored the paper with the password and left it stuck to your monitor?

I use LastPass. I have no complaints.

Lastpass has had minor issues in the past but is probably safe these days.

I think Apple's Keychain is secure. It shares via iCloud if you enable that feature, but if you trust KeePass on Dropbox (I would), Keychain in iCloud is probably about the same risk. It uses encryption from the endpoint.

If you want secure storage, Spideroak always struck me as a nice alternative to Dropbox. Spideroak stores encrypted data with what they call a zero knowledge policy. If you forget your password, Spideroak can't decrypt your stuff.

KeePass here, with MiniKeePass on my iPhone. I use my MyCloud nas to store a copy off my phone and keep them synced between the phone and storage.

I tried to load LastPass this afternoon. What a nightmare. First, none of the buttons on the download page would work. So I closed my browser (Firefox) and tried again. This time I could download, but after activating the downloaded file, I received a message box that Firefox was blocking installation and to ":click here to allow Firefox to accept. Once again the button didn't do anything. I was able to sign in and load URLs and some usernames and passwords, but of course none worked. However, I noted changes to my browser display. For example, here on the forum my preference to load "New Posts" as a start page was gone, and my page font size was changed. The Help FAQs did no good, so I uninstalled it, and my page font size returned, but not my start page. Frustrating.

Not ignoring the input. Grandson took me over and I'm just getting back. Thanks so much for replies, I will look into all suggestions. Looking for simple and secure if possible. My suggestion, never ever agree to 800 plus piece Lego project. The boy said no breaks

I use LastPass. It's nice to only have to remember on strong password to get access to all my other sites. Plus LastPass will generate passwords as you see fit.

I got a notice in today's email about the new version of AxCrypt, which is free and open source. I downloaded version one a long time ago and found it worked find, but I was looking for volume encryption, which it didn't do at that time. I don't think the new version, does either, but it includes a password manager according to the blurb.

No idea how convenient it is. Version 1 was really easy to use and never caused trouble for file encryption.

+1 Lastpass. I've been using it for years across all devices. For those worried about "cloud" storage, the most important thing is to understand where your data gets encrypted. *client side* encryption means your data is encrypted before it ever hits the wire, which is what you want.

The worst password manager is the one that's *juuuust* inconvenient enough for you not to use all the time.

Used to use LastPass and KeePass, but have consolidated to just KeePass due to ongoing security concerns with LastPass, most recently https://blog.lastpass.com/2017/03/impor ... sers.html/. It's less user friendly than LastPass, but I have more control over the security effectiveness, plus it's free and open source.
