2015 data will not be so good, I predict.
Unless it's massaged like employment statistics.

Boiling this down to the personal, you have less than a 0.4% chance of being involved in a violent crime and a less than 2.6% chance of suffering from a property crime. And, according to the FBI, you have a 0.00008% chance of every having to kill someone in a justifiable homicide.

TAM.... Don't those number SEEM kinda low to you?The Annoyed Man wrote:AND.... the Justifiable Homicide by Private Citizen table: https://www.fbi.gov/about-us/cjis/ucr/c ... 0-2014.xls
And the footnote says "The killing of a felon, during the commission of a felony, by a private citizen." Seems strange. Are they saying a that the deceased would have to have been previously convicted of a felony? Or are they calling he/she a felon because they died during the act of a felony.
Anyways I would have thought those numbers would have increased significantly with the increase of CHL carriers.

Re: FBI Releases 2014 Crime Stats
I found the stats for Texas:
"Justifiable homicide is the killing of a felon by a peace officer in the line of duty or the killing (during the commission of a felony) of a felon by a private citizen. In 2014, there were 103 justifiable homicides"
So according to them Texas makes up the more than 1/3 of their statistic. Sounds like they don't have their data correct.

Maybe when more people have carry licenses, fewer people commit felonies for fear of getting shot.esxmarkc wrote:TAM.... Don't those number SEEM kinda low to you?The Annoyed Man wrote:AND.... the Justifiable Homicide by Private Citizen table: https://www.fbi.gov/about-us/cjis/ucr/c ... 0-2014.xls

TAM, you know that can't be true, because Texas A&M said so.The Annoyed Man wrote:Maybe when more people have carry licenses, fewer people commit felonies for fear of getting shot.
