Re: Pistol/revolver rack for gun safe
Thanks, Chas! I'm going to do that this weekend. I use dowels down the barrels of some of my long guns that are too short to reach the slot, I never thought of something like that for pistols.

Shock to come forth, but honestly, I think I like my glock 22 more than my 1911-A1!. Sorry all you anti-glocks!Charles L. Cotton wrote:Yes it is. But, it's Martha's, so it's not my fault. Actually, there are three more in there, but not subcompacts.HighVelocity wrote:Is that a Glock subcompact snuggling up to a 1911 in the corner? Oh the horror!
Chas.
Nice idea chas. Did you drill the rear of the safe for the L bracket?

I thought about using a kids shoe rack, but this is better. Kinda costly though for the materials?shipwreck wrote:I use this:

No, I just screwed the L bracket to the pegboard and let sit on the shelf. The L bracket isn't really necessary once you get at least one gun on either side, but I wanted the pegboard to stand up even if I took all of the pistols off. It's really hard to see in this photo, but if you look below the Glock, you can see the L bracket on the shelf.lawrnk wrote:Did you drill the rear of the safe for the L bracket?

If you have a storage problem for your pistols, you can always give them to me to "hold onto them" for ya!ScubaSigGuy wrote:Thanks for sharing. I have been trying to find a solution to my storage problem and that one looks like it will work pretty well.

Thanks, I think I'll manage though.

Re: Pistol/revolver rack for gun safe
Charles' pegboard idea is pretty cool and would be great for my little Stack-On gun cabinet that currently only holds the rifles and shotgun. I think I'll fancy his method up a bit since I have $18k worth of woodworking equipment sitting in the shop. Of course, that will be after I finish the new range box I started this weekend.

Re: Pistol/revolver rack for gun safe
I bought a few sets of these
http://www.sportsmansguide.com/net/cb/cb.aspx?a=506916" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
and they work great. I found the racks took up too much shelf space just for the racks. Now most of my handguns are on the door, easy to see and access and I can use the shelf space for other things. I have everything from small frame 9mms to a long, heavy barrel 44 mag in them and they stick to the fuzzy door liner just great. These will also stick to the inside walls of the safe too if you have some exposed areas there.

Re: Pistol/revolver rack for gun safe
This is what I use for my guns that are out of the carry rotation at the moment, those in the rotation go on the top shelf holstered and ready for a quick change to go. Eight cleaned and ready to go, plus 4 ready to shoot and 2 in carry position between the wife and I.

Re: Pistol/revolver rack for gun safe
Just installed the this rack in my safe:

Also comes in a full-door size:

Works real good.

Very interesting idea Charles. How's it holding up four years later?
