Nicholas Johnson
Negroes and the Gun: The Black Tradition of Arms
This is an excellent book. The title explains the content. It goes from slavery to current day.

Re: Negroes and the Gun The Black Tradition of Arms
I read this book several years ago. It’s an eye opener, and I always recommend it to any person of color who gives me anti gun arguments.

I know that Blacks in the South became more armed after WW1.

Re: Negroes and the Gun The Black Tradition of Arms
just ordered it. dang it! Now I have to fit it in my reading rotation of Brophy's book on Marlins, "The Soldiers of San Jacinto", "The Little War of Private Post", and "Small Bore Rifles". I may have to read Nicholas Johnson's book all the way through. I'm interested in how much he goes into the disarming of blacks, especially in the south post Civil War.

It's amazing to me how much we've been lied to about the history of this country. And mostly for political agendas.
