Freeman Library
The old Freeman Library had a sign (not 30.06) that cited some other NO GUN sign.
I went to the new Freeman yesterday and looked all over the entrance for a sign and saw none and concluded that because it's a Harris County library they assume, you the CHL holder know better and will not wear your handgun inside.
Am I right or ?
Thanks!
P.S. When in doubt I err on the side of caution and leave it in the vehicle.

Re: Freeman Library
Since it's a public facility, they know that by law they aren't *allowed* to post a 30.06, so you as a CHL holder are welcome to carry there.Abraham wrote:The old Freeman Library had a sign (not 30.06) that cited some other NO GUN sign.

Do you believe that the Harris County Library is off limits?Abraham wrote:The old Freeman Library had a sign (not 30.06) that cited some other NO GUN sign.

State buildings are not off limits....only if there is an active court operating within the building (or even a judges office I belive, but may be wrong). Some state and county buildings will post 30.06 even though the law states otherwise. Even though the law states that we CAN carry into state and county buildings (minus the courts), some believe it is their "right" to keep us from carrying there and their opinion superceeds our state laws. I would strongly suggest obtaining an updated Penal Code book for further info.

Interestingly enough, there are quite a large number of folks who do that same thing.
I know a number of CHLers that aren't TexasCHLForum members, and they have quite a number of misconceptions on various things. After I try and clear up their confusion, I tell them that they should visit here, and that there is quite a bit to learn beyond what is in the basic class, but there haven't been any takers yet (as far as I know).

I think all Businesses (and other locations such as the topic of this thread) should be fined for posting incorrect signs and forced by State Law to remove them!
Then if they want to post the 30.06 or 51% signs, that's fine by me. I just choose not to disarm or enter and take my money elsewhere!
If Gov. Perry would sign a law on this and LEO's enforce it, then MAYBE we could get rid of all these crazy signs that serve no purpose other than to confuse law abiding Citizens.
Oh.....and Harris County in particular!
Anyway this will all be a mute point next year when all restrictions on CHL Holders will be removed!
