Question for the singles ones among us

Hey all. I'm in my mid 30's and am just getting back into the dating scene after an 8 year marriage with kids and a few years to myself. On top of trying to figure out how this all works again and trying not to seem like a socially awkward fool, the girl I just started seeing doesn't know I carry yet. I'm of the mindset to just let her know and get it out of the way early. Quick like a band aid. I really don't think it will be a problem, but you never can tell. Any advice for me?

1. Ask her if she'd like to go to the range some time.
2. Be sensitive to her response so that you can moderate your "reveal".
3. If she freaks out and can't get used to it, she's not the girl for you.
4. If she doesn't freak out, she won't care much about your CHL.

Who knows? Maybe, just maybe, she is trying to figure out how to tell you that she carries and is hoping you don't freak out.

Work a short story about a trip to the range you took with a buddy or your kids. if she is pro-gun or anti-gun you'll know fairy quickly. If she is middle of the road you may get little to no reaction. Might be a starting point at least.

If she carries, the next hurdle might be if a revolver fan and a pistol fan have compatibility. :-)

Greenbeer, I am neither single or young, I am almost 40 yrs into my first (and hopefully only) marriage. That statement alone points towards my greybeard.
Be honest and upfront, misinformation by omission is still lying, you are not doing anything wrong by CCing. By most accounts you are doing it right. If she doesn't agree with that then you have to decide if the relationship is worthy of more work or not. TAM offered some good advice. More often than not people are afraid of what they don't know or understand & nowadays what twomillenium says could very probably/possibly be true. Luck to you.

Best case scenario, she says "i'll show you mine if you show me yours..."
Worst case scenario, you find out she's a democrat.

Cosmo says to women "Don't date a
gunsplainer". To me that's all a woman needs to know to do the opposite and date one...

Even before inviting her to a range you could also say that you are unavailable on a particular day or time because you are going to the range with a friend or taking your kid(s) depending on their ages and then gauge her reaction to that. If you shoot skeet or trap it could just be a trip for that instead of something with one of those dangerous handguns or evil black rifles.

Thanks for all the replies. We're going out for dinner this week and I'll probably be able to work it into the conversation some how. I really don't think it's going to be an issue. now if she tells me that she carries too... Well we may have just met the soon to be Mrs. Greenbeer.

I wouldn't even mention it until it becomes necessary for her to know.

I had a woman tell me that she would never allow a gun in her house.
I thanked her for letting me know. When she asked why, I told her that obviously there was no future for us then. I had always had guns and would continue to have them. There is no other option.
Her opinion on guns took an immediate U-turn. She wound up becoming my second wife.

An old girlfriend from high school days, one of my favorite people in the world for many decades, said that to me not long ago while we were sitting together in the balcony at a theater, during intermission, and we had the grandest time admiring pictures of her grandsons and The World's Cutest Granddaughters on our respective iPhones.
