First, welcome to the forum Stang05. Glad to have you with us.
This is another fine article by John Lott. Worth a read:
"Believe it or not, there were a lot more police murders a couple of decades ago. In the five years from 1990 to 1994, an average of 70 officers were killed annually. From 2010 to 2014, that number had fallen to 51 deaths per year. According to research by David Mustard at the University of Georgia, part of that drop occurred because states adopted concealed handgun laws. When states let law-abiding citizens carry concealed handguns, criminals actually become less likely to carry. Deterring criminals from carrying is of benefit both to civilians and to police."
Amen to that!

Yeah free speech means any idiot can exercise it, and when you can hide behind anonymity, there is no limit to stupidity. When ever I reply to on line posts and articles, I use my real name, and I love it when idiots want to debate issues they know nothing about.

Good article! I was unaware that law enforcement were largely in favor of lax concealed carry laws. Good to know.
I prefer dangerous freedom to safety in chains.

We have to always keep in mind there is a difference between the rank and file police officers, chiefs and police unions. All have different perspectives and agendas. Sometimes they align and many times they do not.

Yeah it has always been the Police Chiefs and their organization that has been opposed to first concealed carry, and then open carry. The officers out on the street in the real world understand the importance of having armed good guys in their corner when thing go bad. I don't know what happens to them when they become the chief, maybe it's just that they have to answer to more people who are removed from the realities of life. I know that not all chiefs feel that way, but those in larger cities who have moved from city to city as chief seem to be the most anti LTC.

The position of Chief, particularly in larger departments like you see in big cities, is primarily a role of politician, not public servant.
