Sign businesses calling churches
Knowing I have my CHL, my preacher asked me some questions about signs that were required on the entry to our church. He said he has received calls from several sign businesses stating our church is required to have both 06 and 07 signs posted. I explained they were lying, just trying to make a sale, then educated him about the law. If anyone reading this has connections, there needs to be a formal complaint to report this kind of deceit. I would not be surprised if that is the reason we have seen so many businesses that now have both signs up that had none before Jan 01.

Scammers know no lows and that's what those calls are. Just scams. It is time to educate your preacher in the truth.

Re: Sign businesses calling churches
These are the tactics of MDA and other Bloomberg worshipers. They have been doing this since before the open carry law came into effect. They have been offering discounted, or sometime free signs, along with threats of boycotts, (probably not for churches) fear mongering with visions of masses of armed hooligans storming into their businesses/churches with "assault" rifles at the ready. This is infuriating for me also, they have even taken out radio ads to promote the signs for sale.
I have spoken with my pastor at length regarding the church's policy on carrying. Our conversations started back when I first obtained my CHL. He said that the governing body has left it up to each congregation to decide on signage, my pastor has always been pro carry, and has never discouraged those of us with a LTC from carrying. He has said, and has been proven correct, that he did't foresee much, if any open carry, and I personally only CC while there.
You didn't list yourchurch, and I won't list mine, but it's great that you have an open dialogue regarding this issue, and if your church is part of a conference, I would ask my pastor to pass along the info you provided to other churches in the conference in case they have received similar calls.

I have suspected that this is happening. I have seen several convenience stores that never had 30.06 signs before that are now displaying both 30.06 and 30.07 signs. Both signs have a light red Ghostbusters superimposed over them which leads me to believe that some company is pushing them both for sale and display.

I'm no lawyer, but I think telling a church or business they are required by law to buy and post a sign when they are not is fraudulent and deceptive practice...

Unless they tell them that the signs "must" be purchased from them, they can say almost anything. This is typical of the left propaganda, dancing just outside the rules, but using outright lies to convince those who don't understand the laws and using fear to get them to post unnecessary signs.

BINGO !! If a merchant has no reason to familiarize himself with the gun laws of Texas, he is fair game. I wouldn't be surprised if sign businesses are aware of the merchants' lack of knowledge and see an easy buck at our expense.Dreamer42 wrote:Knowing I have my CHL, my preacher asked me some questions about signs that were required on the entry to our church. Another reason we may be seeing both signs is because the media publicity about OC awoke a sleeping giant as many of us feared.

I believe this is the correct explanation. Sign shops do not cold call, doubly especially on churches. These are the tactics of MDA and other Bloomberg worshipers. So, who has infiltrated MDA, and knows what's going on for sure? Better not reply in a public forum.

It would be good to be a fly on the wall at their planning sessions. I can't prove it because the only money he has to report, is campaign contributions, but I believe Bloomberg is funding a lot of their activities, when you have unlimited finances, you can purchase a sign company and hire people to call businesses/churches, go door to door passing along false and misleading information etc. and do it all as a non-profit group. There just seems to be way too many boots on the ground for the numbers associated with that group. Again, its just my personal grassy knoll. Thankfully their message is falling on a lot of deaf ears despite the surge in signage. We can only try to fight back by informing business owners, and church leaders of the truth.

Re: Sign businesses calling churches
I have at least one MDA member social media account I'm monitoring where they bragged about going out "walking and talking" to businesses on signage. It's clear to me this is a coordinated by them to go door to door and get as many places to post as possible.bbhack wrote:

Re: Sign businesses calling churches
I have owned a business and sign companies, yellow page companies, investment advisers, cable tv companies, you name it constantly push their wares. This is called capitalism and either you buy it or you don't. If the churches don't have any business sense - tough. I don't think this is a plot.
Re: Sign businesses calling churches
Not an infiltration exactly, but the missus has a good friend who's with moms. I don't know about them (dont want to) from the "inside" but her friend is 100% volunteer and doesn't get paid anything. I'm sure they have staff people organizing but friend isn't one of em. (BTW Sign shops cold call. My best man makes a nice living doing just that.)bbhack wrote: I believe this is the correct explanation. Sign shops do not cold call, doubly especially on churches.
