This is going to get interesting. The radio this morning reported that "about" 150 professors at UT last night signed a petition indicating that would not allow guns in their classrooms.

How are they going to stop them? Will they post a 30.06 sign?

Will private universities that choose to ban concealed carry be required to post a 30.06 on every building?

I have not read or heard anything on the radio (since yesterday) on how they would stop them.

We had a similar "Town Hall" style forum last week about Campus Carry at UT Dallas, during which time a couple of instructors voiced their desire to have their offices and classrooms listed as "exclusion zones". I won't bore you with a wall of text as to the reply myself and others gave, but suffice it to say, one of the members of the Liaison group assigned by the UT system heads told them "
Exclusion zones such as that would effectively make the whole building an Exclusion Zone, and UT will in no way seek to circumvent the law that has been passed." Im not sure if UT Austin falls under the UT umbrella, but that is what was passed down during the meeting. Hope that helps.

That's my understanding. Both public and private institutions will have to post 30.06 to identify the places where concealed carry is not allowed - 411.2031 (d-1), and 46.035 (a-2) and (a-3), including stadiums.

Private schools: Don't have to post TPC §30.06 signs, but if they do not, then they can enforce only rules and policies. There will be no criminal violation. Tex. Gov't Code §411.2031(e)
Public schools: Must post 30.06 signs on "premises" (a/k/a buildings or portions thereof) that are off-limits. They cannot post 30.06 signs outside of buildings. Tex. Gov't Code §411.2031(d-1)

Do they even have the legal authority to demand it?

No and this was discussed at a public meeting on Monday in Austin.

UT Austin
IS UT! It holds the umbrella. The rest of them are red-headed step children.
