A license holder cannot take a firearm into a hospital. Section 46.035(b)(4) UNLAWFUL CARRYING OF HANDGUN BY LICENSE HOLD includes: "
(4) on the premises of a hospital licensed under Chapter 241, Health and Safety Code, or on the premises of a nursing home licensed under Chapter 242, Health and Safety Code, unless the license holder has written authorization of the hospital or nursing home administration, as appropriate;"

You might want to keep reading at least until you get to 46.035(i)

He also may want to request a refund from his instructor. I can still remember my instructor making the whole class repeat that section several times (and that's been more than a few years ago). If he walked away from a class without that info I have to wonder if he walked away with anything at all.

I know a CHL instructor who still believes that to be the law. My response is always to ask anyone who doesn't read the rest of the section if they still believe prohibition is the law of the land - because the 18th amendment is still in the Constitution. But you need to keep going to the 21st to find out it has been repealed.

(i) Subsections (b)(4), (b)(5), (b)(6), and (c) do not apply if the actor was not given effective notice under Section 30.06.
So, a hospital has to post a 30.06 sign...
I decided to leave my firearm locked in my vehicle... I was taking my father-in-law to an appointment, he can't walk by himself, so I thought it would be too much of a hassle if I had to walk back to the car, leaving him by himself... We didn't go thru the main door, but there was no 30.06 sign. Not sure about the main entrance, since we didn't make it that far.
The other HCHD clinic where I take him in Humble (Squatty Lyons) is posted, so I am surprised that LBJ isn't posted.
