Example/Sample CHL Written Exams?

#1

Post by Glockster »

I have found online something that claims to be an example of the same questions found on the TX CHL class test, to be used for preparing. I guess that the short version question that I have is whether or not those (you can easily find them, or I can point to one if needed) are in fact accurate representations? I ask because although I haven't (yet) taken the class I had no problem scoring 100% (but admit to having to scratch my head over two of them for a moment or two). Maybe that's just because I've taken an exam elsewhere, or perhaps because I've been doing some reading while waiting for the class, but otherwise the test seemed like one that is pretty easy to pass.

Hard to say without seeing the online guide, but the test is very easy. Anyone with an IQ over 85 and half awake during the class can pass it. You just have to make sure you don't get tripped up when they try to confuse you with questions...won't happen if you read somewhat carefully. There are only a couple of questions like that.

I don't think there's a standardized exam. I could be wrong, but I think each instructor makes up their own curriculum (abiding by the topics set out in the law) and their own exam. But it's stupid easy. You could probably pass it without even going through the class.

The one I did was mostly firearm safety and conflict resolution.

Sample question:

(True or False) When the safety on a firearm is engaged, it means it's absolutely safe to pull the trigger.

The answer is False.
Keep calm and carry.

There is a standard exam written by DPS, but it given out only to instructors.

Don't sweat the test. Listen and pay attention.

The instructor will teach everything you need to know to pass the test. :thumbs2:

A lot of people sweat the test, other than your standard badly written question test double talk its pretty simple and straight forward.
Though I do miss some of the more humorous questions from the old test.
