CHL renewal--13 days

Got my notice in the mail that my CHL had to be renewed again by July. Filled out the online application and paid the fee right then. Had to send a paper copy of bar code conformation, that I could not see a need for, but I had my license in 13 days gate to gate.
Not bad--Thanks Texas DPS

I renewed last year and received equally quick service.
I did NOT send any bar code form in at all.

Same here. I was stunned at how quick my renewal came in. Mine was in February. They seem to have really streamlined the renewal process. I give them a :tiphat: . I am thinking I did the bar code.

Beat me by a day. Mine was 14 days from online renewal to plastic in hand. Wasn't sure what to do with the bar code sheet so just held onto it. Evidently wasn't needed since I didn't need to send in further documentation. Again, way to go Texas DPS! :anamatedbanana

13-14 days is great, but they do need to update the application page. I must admit that after all these years, my dealings with DPS have all been satisfactory. They need the attaboy.

:iagree: Sent a letter by USPS and let them know.
People working in a bureaucracy like to know that their individual contributions and work are appreciated. :txflag:

I just checked how long mine took in 2013. It is 23 days. They are getting quicker  .

November was a bad month --- it took close to 90 days for a renewal.

I just did my online renewal.

Printed the checklist page with the barcode.

IT says on the sheet to EMAIL or MAIL the page, but does not have an email address.

Is it necessary to mail this in on a renewal?

I did not do it.

Never mind, I figured out how to attach the file to a Customer Relations Center contact email.

My CHL instructor friend told me that was acceptable.

I processed mine on the evening of 26 February. I submitted the check list with the bar code and my discharge papers (DD-214 to claim the veteran's rate) that same evening. Initially the Texas.Gov web site said something like application in process. The next day (Thursday, 27 Feb) I received a msg from TX DPS Regulatory Svcs Div saying they'd received my materials and would forward them to a CHL specialist. The status on the Texas.Gov web page then changed (on Friday) to: License Status: Application processed online. Concealed Handgun Licensing is waiting on the receipt of required materials. Once the application and materials have been received by Concealed Handgun Licensing and processing has begun, a more detailed status will appear on this page.

As of today that hasn't changed. It's now 07 March (nine days later) and the web site still says it's waiting for materials. I was hoping to at least see something different on the web page, but I guess I'll just have to be patient. It sounds like things are a lot better than the couple of months that it took to get my initial license five years ago.

Question, when you get your renewed plastic does it start the day the other one expires or not? Because the one I have expires like 3 days after my birthday so I almost get 5 whole years out of it, just curious if I can expect the same or not.

My license was set to expire on my birthday--July. The new license is set to expire on my birthday in 2019, five years from my birthday. I did not get our the handbook/reg book but I thought all licenses started on your birth date. I know my wife and daughters and son and daughter in laws all do, because I just asked them here at the house.
