Outback Steakhouse following Starbucks

#1

Post by CHLLady »

Had lunch at the Outback Steakhouse in South FW off the 820.

They had the typical Unlicensed sign up as you enter the first set of doors. To the right, on a very small plaque about 8 x 10 was this...

"WHILE WE RESPECT THE RIGHTS OF GUN OWNERS, IT IS OUR POLICY THAT GUNS ARE NOT ALLOWED IN OUR RESTAURANTS."

No 30.06 sign posted anywhere. I don't recall seeing this sign before.

I was very disappointed and don't think I'll be back. :nono:
If you carry a gun, people call you paranoid. Nonsense! If you carry a gun, what do you have to be paranoid about?

"No rules, just right, eh Mate".
The last Outback I ate in was in Fayetteville, NC about 15 years ago. It was a Ft. Bragg business dinner and it was poor...to say the least.

If everybody keeps 30.06 posting their eateries, etc., we will just have to make do at home, eh Mate?

Sign posted to pacify the sheeple! Of course means absolutely nothing to a CHL holder.

I have yet to see an eatery posted with a 30.06 sign.

In my book Outback is a third rate eatery. The last time I ate there was my LAST time. The meat was tough, the service poor and prices were high. Golden Corral has better steak.

I don't believe it and think the owners are just ignorant of the correct signage. There is not one shred of proof that they are trying to pacify the sheeple, but if it gives you a warm and fuzzy feeling then by all means keep giving them money.

The steak is not good here at all and if you think it is you should compare it to a "normal" ribeye at Chili's. Not a high end ribeye at all but 100% better than Outback Steakhouse. I dined there once about 10 years ago and have not been back nor ever will.

I believe Outback Steakhouse may be serving old milk cows...

:iagree: their intent seems pretty clear. I wouldn't eat there but if I needed to use their restroom I would walk right past the sign armed.

I can't remember the last time I was in an Outback, but service was poor and the food was worse. Another place where something was served wrong and instead of making new, they just scraped the mess off and reserved the same. I ordered a steak with no extra sauces, and they served it to me smothered in mushrooms, the way my wife ordered and received hers. When I objected they took it back and scraped some of the mushrooms off. We left.

Amen. My first assumption is that they mean it, but either are not smart enough or do not care enough to put up the proper signage, either of which makes them ineligible to receive my money.

The idea that incorrect signage is an effort to pacify sheeple or insurance companies just does not make sense. If insurance companies were going to require no gun policies, wouldn't they specify that any signage had to comply with state and local laws?

And I really doubt that the "sheeple" notice - case in point, our friends like to eat at Rainforest Cafe, and they always enter by the nearest entrance, the one that is posted, and during a conversation about going there to eat, when I said I would not and why, they said that they had never seen the sign.

I have asked companies with signs posted, both valid and invalid, why they post, and not one has ever told me that it was an insurance requirement, although the Kia dealership did tell me that the City of Plano required it, at which point I drove away. I have carded many such establishments, and still have not seen one change their sign to a compliant one, although Bass Pro shops did take down their non-compliant ones in response to my letter, so I will continue to card them and tell them that their signage does not meet requirements. Only after I do that do I consider carrying there, but usually I just avoid doing business with them because they have stated that they do not want my money.

These signs are also used by businesses who don't want to put up the 30.06 sign because they don't want to alienate us (the CHL community), but they want the anti crowd who doesn't know the statutes to feel like they are on their side. I've seen this happen when headquarters issues a mandate to put up "no gun" signs, but the local management doesn't want to, so they "tongue in cheek" put up a worthless sign to look like they comply.

If this is the case, I give them credit.

Exactly. The sign means nothing........in Texas. It might in other states, but Texas requires 30.06 to keep out CHLs. That said, I can think of at least 10 places within 10 miles of my house to get a better steak than Outback sells...........not the least of which is my own grill.

I ate at one once - terrible and I'm not picky about food.

I concur with the worn out old milk cows made into steaks conclusion...Australian Water Buffalo would be a big improvement.

If no 30.06 / 51% signage and food is good, I really don't care about "No Gun" signs. If the food is bad, not going at all - even if they had "Guns Welcome Here" signs. Not sure where I could buy bulk liquor if "No Gun" signs kept me outside the liquor store.
