HAVE YOU EVER PULLED YOUR GUN?

Just wondering how many have ever felt the need to have their gun in hand due to a circumstance or situation ? I have done this several times , I never exposed the weapon or let anyone know I had it . The outcome of each of the times I did so was uneventful and no confrontation , I was lucky but tried to prepare myself if things went south .

Had someone we were watching say "I'm gonna pull a gun on you guys" to my partner and me as he reached into his jacket. When he stared down the wrong end of the barrel of my weapon, he changed his mind.

Not being confrontational, but I find your wording interesting. If "The outcome of each of the times I did so was uneventful and no confrontation" then why would you feel the need to pull in the first place? If there was no confrontation.....why did you feel threatened? Maybe I am just reading the post wrong and maybe my definition of "pulling your gun" is different. Like I said, not judgmental, just open dialog.

To answer your question...no. I have carried since 1996 but never pulled. I've had my hand on the gun....but it has never come out.

I've never unholstered my firearm in a carry situation. I've checked it or shifted myself to be in a better position to draw if necessary once or twice, but never felt the need to draw the weapon as the situation played out. I've always gone by the thought that "if it's bad enough to draw a weapon, it's bad enough to use that weapon."

Drawing a weapon ahead of a potential but unrealized confrontation may be seen as being prepared in your own mind, but it may also be seen as unreasonable, looking for trouble, or unprovoked escalation in a jury's mind.

I have never drawn it while in a carry situation, had one time where I made sure I could easily get at it if the situation went down as I feared... it didn't. I have drawn it a few times at home in response to noises that sounded like intruders during the night. In every case it was just that pesky ghost making noise

I work in an automotive related service / sales business . I get to work about an hour ahead of everyone else to get everything organized to start the day . Came the building thru a walk door in the waiting room and did not relock it . Was getting tickets , orders , etc ready . Heard the walk door open and thought one of the shop hands came in early , didn't pay much attention . A Mexican (not a Mexican American , Hispanic American ) appeared at the sales counter , looked like a street person . He could not speak English at all hardly at all and was trying to sell me 'six packs of cokes , he was on foot and didn't have a car and just kept jabbering and talking . I eased my hand in my right pocket and had a hold on my Ruger LCP , his eye's were darting around and seemed like he was stalling and trying to figure out if he wanted to make a move . I stood up with my hand in my pocket and will not repeat what I said to him here but I was abundantly clear that he needed to leave immediately . He walked toward the waiting room but I never heard the door open or close , he was looking at me around a stack of tires . I walked toward him and he left quickly .

Like the situation above , in this 'situation' I never pulled my weapon , I did confront this person but not with a gun in view , it worked without displaying or using the weapon .

Chuck, the confrontation you describe makes your original post a bit more clear. I'd say that I would have (and have) done the exact same thing in a similar scenario.

,Based on the current Zimmerman murder trial, I think it is prudent to concider anything one might post in this forum will be trotted out for the jury, broadcast on CNN etal and colored to make one look guilty (of something) God forbid one need to ever use deadly force as a last resort, in the future.

Just calling 911 to report activity in your neighborhood is being painted as at "pattern" of behavior that suggests one is "fed up and willing to take matters into his own hands." The old if you see something say something might just be used against you.
