With SB534 on it's way to passage, I'm a bit concerned about one provision.
A CHL holder would have to notify his employer that he is a CHL holder in order to enjoy the protection of the law.
Personally, I prefer to excercise my rights without those around me - including my employer - knowing that I carry. In a typical small to medium size business, things like that don't stay private.
I'd like some discussion of that before I write my representative again.

The law says if you tell your employer you have a CHL and keep a gun in the car, he/she/they/it can't fire you bor that reason.
That doesn't mean they can look at you funny to try and tell if you are packing. or find some silly excuse to find fault with your work.
They need to leave that provision off IMHO

It seems that this provision serves as an "out" for the employer and their attorneys.NcongruNt wrote:This also makes it very difficult for us to effectively conceal our handguns. It isn't really concealed if everyone at work knows it's there. It would also make a vehicle a more likely target for theft. I don't understand why the provision was added.
Gun control = hitting where you aim

Ive often thought about how friends or other employees would react to a life threatening situation when they knew you were carrying.NcongruNt wrote:This also makes it very difficult for us to effectively conceal our handguns. What if while you are waiting for the opertune time to pull your weapon, someone loses their head and yells out something like
"(insert your name) use your gun!!"
Now theyve just ruined your advantage of having a concealed weapon and possibly killed everyone in the room.
