UT Austin campus rules question

I will be traveling to Austin and spending some time on the UT campus this weekend. Can someone tell me if it is ok to have a gun in a locked vehicle on the UT Austin campus?

It is not a criminal offense to have a gun in your car. NOT A CRIME.
It is against UT policy, which only affects students and faculty subject to university policy.

Thanks for your help! The campus police website is not really very clear. That helps because it would be a hassle to leave it in my hotel when I plan to be on campus. The rest of the time I am in Austin, I will be carrying.

You can actually carry on campus as long as you do not go into a building, sporting event, etc., correct?

Park your car off campus ride a shuttle bus to campus. The shuttle bus drivers don't check for University ID
(shuttle buses have orange markings.) I would suggest parking on or near Speedway street in the Hyde Park area
Take the IF shuttle rout ( the If goes up and down Speedway buses run every few minutes during peak periods)
Just get on it and ride to campus no ???? asked and no charge. You can find University shuttle bus maps on the web
Avoid the areas East of I 35 this is a bad part of town

Forget about parking on campus lock your car leave your gun in it and take the shuttle bus to campus
The shuttle drivers never check for University ID

Visitors can park in the campus garages for the posted fees. All of the lots/street spaces requires permits and you will be ticketed within seconds 24/7 if you park in one of those. trust me.

You may carry it all over the campus if you want to as long as you stay out of the buildings.
