A little guidance, please

OK, here I am in Texas. I've signed up for and will take the CHL class on Friday. My "address" DL etc are still at the present home in Coronado, which is sold and will close next month, at which point we will be moving lock, stock, barrel, 10 round magazines, old bullet buttons and all, to Texas.
Should I fill out an application Friday and send it in, using the CA address, to get the ball rolling a few weeks sooner, or wait until we have our new home in Texas, then send in the application with the Class cert, and all the other stuff?
I'm worried that sending it in now will result in everything going to CA, just after I go to Texas.
Any advice based on experience or info about how things are likely to be done?
I have Utah and Florida permits so I am able to carry in the meantime, within those limitations.
BTW, I filled out an online application in January 2012, and paid the fee, thinking the house would sell and/or I would be able to get here to take the class sooner than this. I never followed up on it. Any hope that is still in the system?

Other than welcome to Texas I have no idea what to say about the rest, sorry, but welcome.

Given the fact that you have the ability to carry currently, my instinct tells me to wait. Might make things less complicated in the long run. Ask your instructor when you take the class. If you want to ask DPS, I had pretty good luck getting through right before 5:00 PM.
Welcome home.

Since you have a way to carry w/o the Texas license, I would say just wait. You can take the class and once you get your mailing address here, send the info in. I doubt after sixteen months they still have your application.
Welcome home!

Welcome back home!!!!
I agree with the other's and just wait a couple weeks to get everything squared away with your DL and home address.

with all of the above. No need to complicate a already complicated bureaucratic process further.

IIRC you have 2 years on the DPS app. and 1 year on the chl class form 100. One of the other members will be along to clear it up for both of us shortly. LOL.
Oh yeah welcome home!

That was my thought upon reading jallen's original post. The application should be good for 2yrs.

JALLEN,
You can carry concealed in the car without a CHL in Texas.
Also, at work, depending...

I see in reviewing the app I completed in January 2012 that it says that all required items must be supplied within 12 months. If not, the application is terminated and the fee will not be refunded.
It looks like I have to start from scratch. Ahh, well. It looks like I donated $72 to the state. On the website, there is no way to retrieve an application in process unless you have a TDL, it appears. You have to do things their way, it seems.
We spent the afternoon driving around the hill country north of San Antonio looking at listings and terrorizing real estate brokers. We will be doing that the rest of the week until we find something to put into escrow. My CHL class is on Friday.
Thanks for all the kind words. Real Texans are the world's finest people, hard working, responsible, self-reliant, honest, helpful to strangers, protective of women and children, and unintimidated by adversity.

JALLEN, the application is good for 1 yr as you found out. The CHL-100 class completion form is good for 2 yrs for an original ( non renewal) application. Renewals are good for 6 months. I would wait as others have said until you have a residence here that you can place on the application. Welcome home.....
