Am I going to have problem getting my CHL?

Well, hope someone has an educated answer for me. Ok, a long time ago I did have my CHL, but let it lapse. Since then I found myself in a pickle but mostly a misunderstanding. I was enjoying the a nice night ride on my sport bike, hugging the tank, didn't realize I was being pulled over with those red and blue lights flashing behind me. Anyway, was arrested, and charged with felony evading and nothing more. I went though a one year probation, the probation officer only wanted 6 months. To be honest, when I first met the probation officer his exact words, "Why are you even here". He was stunned I wasn't just fined. The judge actually didn't even fine me, just gave me two years probation which was actually dismissed at one year.

So, recently I began going back through the process of getting my CHL. Applied online, printed my paperwork, got finger prints, and completed me class again. I asked the instructor prior to the class if I would have any issues, and he said key word "dismissed", so no problems. Thought I would get some more feedback. Since my case was dismissed I have already changed jobs twice to better higher positions and a felony record would have prevented me getting the job. I have just send in all my paperwork via mail yesterday. There is just so much conflicting information. Some people say a probation prevents it, some say a dismissal will allow it. Not another blemish on record, not even a speeding ticket for years and years. My issue was back in June 2008. Thanks for any useful information.

go to the county clerk where you were arrested, get a copy of the disposition, because the probation was dismissed does not mean the charges were, I can imagine that you were convicted and given probation as a punishment as opposed to a fine but I doubt the charges were formally dismissed

I found the online record for Dallas County it is has a DISM which says Charge Dismissed. I found the rest of the record but it is confusing to understand.

Had it been a probation release it would say DSCH for Successful completion and release from probation (Conviction).

I have a juvenile record and its a joke to try to get certified copys of my record. To get the certified copys Juvenile Probation said I must, get a lawyer and set a court date, stand before a judge and motion the court to release my record to the DA, have the DA certify it for me.

I called DPS and asked if I really had to go through all the crap, they said no just get us a copy of what you were arrested for and the charges, sentence ect. To get that I had to call a judge and he sign to release that info, such a hassle.

Let us know how it turns out. In hind sight you should have spent a little more time clearing it up back when it happened. Having been a CHL holder you should have recognized CHL and felony don't go together. I hope it works out for you!
